Shame there isn't a tongue in cheek smiley, Chazz.

I have no obejection to footballers making a lot of money for playing the game, millions watch them and why shouldn't they get what golfers, tennis players, pop singers, film stars and players of ludicrous American sports get?
What gets me is the sponsorships, which they and others get which give them riches beyond the dreams of avarice.

He did... the corner house where the players entrance was. He was a top bloke and one day when we were really early for the game he came out and chatted for what seemed like forever before going into the ground.

You're right there Chazz. I make a point of watching the whole series every year or so just to give myself a reality check. There but for fortune ! (never manage to find Dylan's version on you-tube....this'll have to do...she's very good with her ex-lovers stuff)

Football's one of the few professions where working-class lads can earn a lot of money based on their talents. Music's another, mostly indie bands though and manufactured middle-class pop stars is where most of the money is. Acting's always been a middle-class dominated industry, on both sides of the pond. Working-class actors are a dying breed. The likes of Kit Harington, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddlestone and Eddie Redmayne will always be preferred over a working-class actor. I mean, not their fault, they're good actors but what background you came from and where you went to school is important in the acting industry, unfortunately.

The point is, I couldn't care less if Ronaldo becomes the first billionaire footballer. He grew up the son of a cook and a gardener in a poor Portuguese neighbourhood. Messi has a similar background. Most of the greatest footballers in South America came from poverty. A lot of English players came from working-class families. Sure, they earn a lot, perhaps even too much, but in my opinion, when you compare it to the CEOs and the bankers, the footballers earned their wealth rather than exploiting it.

Fair play to him, as the most, or 2nd most, marketable person on the most global of all sports he deserves his fair share of the money that is flying around football. He may be a pricl on the pitch but off it he seems much more decent and I've no doubt he is one of the hardest working players to have ever played the game. Even when he'd already made it and now when he's broken numerous records he still continues to work his balls off with extra training and gym sessions. Never in the tabloids out on the piss, can't remember any scandals involving him. A lot of players out there could improve themselves greatly if they had his desire.

The money swilling around the game is obscene, but I've got no particular problem with him actually
Gives a **** on the pitch, even on the bench in final when he went off injured. Works hard, does loads for charity etc
