What a brilliant song!! Saw an interview with Keith Emerson once when he was asked why they all had to have 40 foot artics for the ELP tour. His answer? "Why not?"
It's funny, but in many people's eyes, the above was what he'll be remembered for - probably the best Christmas song ever written. But he was so much more. Great musician, great songwriter. I know he's also most remembered by rock fans as being a member of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, but I remember him most for being one of the best bits of King Crimson. For me, he gave depth, warmth, great songs, lead singing and music. I can't say I play my ELP albums that regularly, but not a few months goes by before In The Court Of The Crimson King gets a play. Inevitably I'll sing along to that great trio of songs, I Talk To The Wind, Epitaph, The Court Of The Crimson King. One of the great highs in rock. They just don't make music like that anymore. British broadcaster Sky has agreed an £18bn takeover by Rupert Murdoch’s US media group 21st Century Fox five years after a takeover was abandoned at the height of the phone-hacking scandal.
