A social media post his assistant could put up in 12 seconds is, as mentioned before, good PR. Especially for a bloke who's got a not of a rep for misbehaving.

I wouldn't take what happens on social media to heart. It's highly selective.

I'd stress at this point, I rated M'Vila incredibly highly and he seemed a likeable enough bloke.

But working in advertising/media makes me an utter cynic with regards to social media. You see the ugly side of it and just don't believe any of it.

I'm not taking it to heart, I'm pointing out that its unnecessary PR. He has no reason to want to engage with SAFC fans. The way that social media content is blown out of all proportion, this could potentially be read as a snub to the fans of his current club. Any well-run social media campaign will consider the possibilities of both positive and negative impact in its content.

It's publicity which causes latent goodwill mate. It's win/win.

If he's looking to move elsewhere... Every **** sees he's a nice chap.

If he's staying there... Who's to say he didn't release a statement to the Russian media or in his clubs press saying his dream of being back in their team, playing in front of their fans is now coming true.

It creates very good publicity for the lad and develops a good image for him. Clever PR.

Premier League: M'Vila doesn't have the fight for Sunderland, claims Moyes

Sunderland manager David Moyes cut a relieved figure after avoiding signing Yann M'Vila, criticising the midfielder's commitment.

David Moyes says the decision to cancel Sunderland's signing of Yann M'Vila was down to a lack of commitment from the midfielder.

Former France international M'Vila had been due to re-join the Black Cats on a three-and-a-half-year deal in January, having spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light.

However, Moyes says that M'Vila did not have the necessary "fight" to help Sunderland in their battle against the drop.

"He's a very good player but I only want players here who want to come," Moyes told a news conference

"It was one of those things and that's where we are with it. His decision was his choice and if he chose not to join we have to say OK then.

"We want people who are going to come here and fight. We're in a difficult position. We're trying to get players here who will want to be here for a long time.

"Yann showed that he didn't want to be here for that period, he didn't want to be here.

"So we had a decision to make and we chose not to bring him."

Moyes has led Sunderland to three wins on their last four Premier League games ahead of Saturday's trip to rock-bottom Swansea City.

Just found this. Make if it what you will.

Reads a bit like sour grapes but fair enough. The bloke chose not to come back when we do need players who want to fight for premier league football.

    Situation concluded for me.

Seems like there was a deal.

M'Vila's called and said "The deal is obviously binding but, I don't wanna come, can we agree to mutually terminate the deal?"

Then SAFC have said "Yeah, well we don't want players who won't want to be here, tara then".

He was a good player, but he's not the only good player, you can move on, with fond memories of his time at the club, he really helped you stay up last year.

It can't be that good, going by the number of people who are willing to dismiss it as bollocks...
It might benefit him but it still seems unnecessary.

If a PR company/consultancy can charge for it it's absolutely necessary.

Time to move on from all this crap of he said, she said type of thing.....it would have been great if he had come committed but I can see both sides of this one. Good luck to the lad because he did well for us. As previously mentioned there is a lot of good other players out there. Bring on Swansea!!!! Haway the lads!!!!!

Well we all know we were wrongly right, or is it rightly wrong about this affair?

My only observation is that he appears not to be up for the fight we are in.

Seems to me, he might have been up for the fight if we hadn't dithered so much.

Oh aye I know it's all spin, but there were pictures of him in England, and the lad himself posted a straight up "please sign me" message on insta.

For someone to say "I don't believe he was ever in England, and he never wanted to come at all" is just insane imo.

If he didn't fancy it in the summer, then there is no way, NO WAY, he flies himself to England and begs us to sign to him. No matter what way you spin it, it makes no sense.

I seem to remember about this time last year that he would not mind staying but only if we stayed up. The unfortunate part of all this is that most of us are just expressing an opinion based on what we would have liked, or would have done with someone else's money. If the player and staff don't see eye to eye about our immediate future then the money saved on him can go to someone who is willing to fight for the cause.

.... or paid him 100k a week. Begging for 100k a week, bit of a contradiction in terms there

I haven't heard anything from us suggesting we were close to signing him in the summer. They had a fee in mind. We had no interest in paying it.

I think it's likely his agent has tried to put pressure on the clubs to get the deal done by shipping him over.
