Not glad he's gone as he's undoubtebly a good player, thoroughly overrated mind. I'd rather we lose him than Lallana or Fonte anyday. I hope he does well, but I just can't see it. He'll be a flop. Watch this space!
Yes Simon, I know Leeds had very little choice due to the financial situation. I wasn't laughing at Leeds (I was on Saturday though), more pointing out what a good deal we have made with AOC.
Just thinking, is this the most expensive second tier transfer ever? Connor Wickham was £8m + add ons?
Amazing! Simply amazing! I cannot get over the stupidity of this deal! Arsenal; a team without a decent goalkeeper, central defender and about to loose their best central midfielder and Nasir (another central midfielder) if not leaving this season will be gone next season buy... ... a winger?????????????? Oxo, wanting a shot at the premiership is joining a club without a trophy is 6 years - whose best players cannot get out the door quick enough and whose manager ruined the development of last player from Saints to join them and is likely to be out of a job at the end of this season if he gets no trophies. Why oh why join a club on the slide???????????
Well he can Fu ck off with his skate father now. I only want team players on the bus, Norwich showed the way with Lambert and this is how Adkins is doing it. I don't mind him leaving, especially for a more glamorous club and a big fee. It's the way he did it after Adkins gave him his chance for first team football last season.
Yeah we have Lallana and Re Didder as our main wingers now (Guly isn't a winger) and only Holmes as back-up is that still enough?
Trouble is any transfer dealings will be more difficult as they know that we have money and they want to get their dirty little hands on it. Any price that we have to negotiate will go up at least a quarter of a million because of this deal.
Alex chamberlain will be on sky news sprinting down the road with a television on tottenham high street... mark my words!
If the Liebherr Estate was skeptikal about football making money, then BOOM!! Young Alex has just re-couped all the money spent since Markus saved the club two years ago. Barring Lallana, Scheniderlin & Davis the whole of the current Southampton Squad(Fonte, Lambert, Guly, Cork etc) and the improvements to the training ground cost less than the reported £15 million. In fact if memory serves Markus only paid £15 million for the whole club. I don't think that the Liebherrs will cash in now, but Chamberlain has certainly financed our ambitions to go for the premier league in the next couple of seasons. The great news is that I don't doubt for a minute that Adkins & Cortese will spend the money wisely. Because for as good as Alex is and will be is he really worth 15 times that of Jack Cork? Lets continue with any targets we had identified, but no reason to rush and splash the cash now. How about a cheeky bid for Max Gradel, the little whinger
Chamberlain is adamant he's a CM ...he just played (a mere) 20 or so games for us in L1 as a winger. So Wenger has spent 12m (he can hardly aford) for CM with no first team experience in his actual position. Nice work NC! Fox and Maynard please
Having seen how well we played against Leeds without Chamberlain, I think we have done fantastically well to get an amazing fee for a player who hasn't completed a season in League one. I would have taken anything over 5 million for an unproven player at any level. Yes, he might become a great player but wasn't Lee Holmes touted as a wonderkid? It only takes one bad injury to bring it all crashing down. Take the money and run!
