Firstly I disagree with the official stance if that's it.

Secondly they obviously ignore their own rules given how many non-EEA kids get state education for free.

Unless they're commonwealth kids. Being a different colour or speaking another language doesn't make them non-British. That's just racist thinking.

    What are you talking about?

There are plenty of kids in this country of all colours and nationalities who receive free education.

I posted you a link to the policy, and explained why some different coloured kids could still be British.

You started by 'protesting' a proposed policy of charging foreign children for education in France. I posted a link that seems to show that's current UK policy too.

What exactly are you arguing now?

It's UK policy ignored by the UK. I also said I disagree with it if that's the official stance but ultimately it means nothing if no one adheres to it.

Ignored by the UK? Really? Do you have something to add that supports that?

As it's clearly UK policy, what are you planning to do about it?

I've added the Ciitzen's Advice Bureau and Government sites that say the same as the other one, so it's not IF.

    Calm down.

Yes, I know of many children who according to that shouldn't receive free education but do. Ergo, it's ignored.

    I'm calm. :emoticon-0103-cool:

As you know it, you'll have no problem posting the proof. <ok>

Over and above that, as it seemingly IS NOT yet policy in France, but IS policy here and you really, really object to such things, what are you proposing to do about it?

Pupils from outside the EEA are those who do not have a right of residency in the uk. If you drill down further into the government links you will find that it refers to foreign nationals who send their kids to boarding schools in the UK. If they have the right to remain then they receive free education.

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/schools-admissions-applications-from-overseas-children

In most cases, children arriving from overseas have the right to attend state-funded schools in England.

    https://www.gov.uk/child-study-visa

You can apply for the Tier 4 (Child) student visa if you’re aged between 4 and 17 and you want to study at an independent school in the UK.

There are a fair few ways around it, the key bits are the headlines though, as that's the level the others were arguing initially with the French suggestion. It doesn't mean the rules don't exist or are ignored or necessarily different to the French position.

    It's pretty straightforward.
If the only reason you are in the country is because daddy promised to pay for private education then you can't have state education.

    That's not a fair few.

How do you expect me to post proof of knowing of children who receive free education? My girlfriend used to be a teacher and taught kids from various countries in a state school.

There are many policies I disagree with. That doesn't mean I'm going to do anything about it apart from participate in the democratic process like we all do i.e. as much as you do about policies you disagree with.

Steven seems to know far more on the subject than either of us and it's clearly a more complex policy than the one you make it out to be. From what I've read of Le Pen's, her party's does seem to be that simple.

It's not difficult to find out, I even posted you the links he got the information from. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

You're not as angry with our actual policy on charging foreigners as you are with one suggested in newspaper headlines by a foreign opposition party, and you seemingly know little detail of either.

I'm sure people can draw their own conclusions.

I try and avoid your links. There's no telling what sites a far right old man from Yorkshire might be perusing, especially during a discussion about schoolchildren.

From what I know of Le Pen's policy and what I know of the guff you're trying to pass off as the same thing here, they aren't the same.

People will indeed draw their own conclusions.
