Match Day Thread Southampton FC v Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Europa League, Thursday 8th December, KO 8.05pm

Just thinking about how big this is.

When the draw was made I had fully prepared myself for the fact we might not qualify as it looked a tough group.

Now though, we've put ourselves in a great position to qualify with us needing a win* at home to the 4th seed to qualify.

It would be bitterly disappointing to not go through now.

Just got my first beer. Up the ****ing Saints!

*I'm choosing to ignore the fact that a 0-0 puts us through, and hope Claude is telling the team the same thing.

I'm not sure 2-0 is ever a comfortable score, unless it is in the final minute of added time. Especially with our having conceded 2 quick goals at both Hull and Palace. Yes I know they were away, but it shows a flaw that I thought we had eradicated in recent seasons.
Would prefer it if we could go straight from 1 to 3, with Hapoel having to go the usual route, via the 2, should they score.

 

Well I get to miss the first hour of the game. We better be 4-0 up when I finally tune in

 

Going to the pub now, then on to the game.

 

The club and various players are saying that they need our support and how important we are. I can see what they are up to....they are going to make out it is all our fault. Bastards.

 

I blame the people who can't be arsed to go to the game. They are really the ones who are at fault if we lose.

 

I'm trying to tell myself that if they don't score then we are through ...

 

I don't think it makes any difference. If we lose 1-0 or draw 1-1, we're out.

 

Going to be a tough one for the nerves, we score and go ahead and weirdly it becomes easier for them to win. Hoping for some Heroics tonight

Like I said earlier from their point of view, us going up nil up doesn't change a great deal.

I think they will set out to frustrate us first half, then if it's 0-0 at ht will come out more attacking second half.
