'and I' is the historically correct way to notate it. 'and me' is valid in the modern vernacular, or that's what I'm led to understand.

In vernacular yes (I use it myself all the time), but not correct grammatically. "I" is subject, "me" is object.

There's a common misconception that "I" is traditionally correct and that "me" is common usage, but in fact they have different roles, as I described above.
This misconception leads some people to wrongly use "I" when "me" is correct, as well as the other way round - for example "What does this change mean for you and I?" It should be "you and me".
The confusion always occurs when a third party is involved, so mentally dropping them tells you if you're right or not.
Your original sentence was something like " Even Saint and me aren't old enough...."
You wouldn't say " Me isn't old enough..." that would be a proper dog's dinner of a sentence.
"I" is correct, and introducing a third party doesn't alter that.

Anyway, enough of this **** on a football thread - it's as bad as banging on about F1.

Well, F1 can go to Hell as far as I'm concerned - however, some seem to like it for some reason.
