I meant to put a <laugh> after the Rodwell bit!! Kirchhoff is class! We all know that

Thing is, you can't "enforce" a gentlemans agreement and Bain is saying we aren't going to enforce it. I reckon there was a pre contract looking at this

I don't know, mate. I still think we should have signed him up, there and then. A few people are saying 8 million, is that a fact? I really don't know, I was under the impression it was about 6 million, they were asking for.

Even at 8 million we were signing a 15 million pound player, at the very least. We should have also known that a lot of things can change over time. You can be madly in love with a girl and think she's everything you want, but then after not seeing her for a few months, feelings start to go and it isn't the same. (@Disco down under being the exception to the rule)

Things will have changed for him, as well. He's back with old friends and he would have made new friends, he's back in the team at Kazan and he's playing really well. He might have realised he can do better than a club like us now, that's natural. If we had have signed him in the summer, my gut feeling is he would be very happy here still.

After reading that, I agree it does look like a pre-contract has been put in place.

Fair play to you, mate. You stood the test of time and I've no doubt, you have a wife for life, now.

You must have a massive ****ing forearm, though.

I agree we should have with hindsight. But no businessman or business representative is going to spend £6m even if they can wait 6 months and get the same deal for free.

I think he'd be happy here too. But I think he's been touted by his reps and they've finally got him a better deal or a more stable club. Stick with Moyes and stabilise then players will be more likely to want to come here

Because Moyes had already confirmed to Nick Barnes that there was no actual agreement. This was after the media reported one was in place. I think we may have offered him a deal and he turned us down, but don't believe there was ever a deal agreed. Don't believe Moyes ever wanted him. He was another managers man after all. I wouldn't agree with it but I can understand it. I smell bullshit to appease fan anger. Nick Barnes is a gent, I believe him all day long.

Fellaini reportedly up for sale in January, who'd be happy here to have him in for say, £10m max?

Guaranteed to get no attention from top clubs and has worked with Moyes successfully before.

Everyone's seen the finances video now, right? And Bain's waffling about doing better in the transfer market? So now the summer's transfer business makes more sense (the Lens/Januzaj nonsense aside)- N'Dong, McNair, Love, even Djilobodj, are all young enough to have potential sell on value and make us money. I can kind of see why those players were prioritised. But missing out on M'Vila is a financial, as well as footballing, opportunity missed. He is the kind of player that would have increased shirt sales, raised the club's profile internationally, and demonstrated an ambition that could have attracted other players here and attracted investment/sponsorship/corporate links.

In summary, I've slept on it, and I'm still fuming that the club have missed out on a player of this quality for so much under his market value. They tried to box clever and its failed.

Think 10 is ambitious and hope that would rule us out.

He's been a nightmarish signing for you lot for some reason. I rate the lad at our level, possibly just not at yours.

I'd certainly have him in the team playing behind Defoe but 10 would be too big an investment when our defence needs a lot of investment. Moyes knows how to get him playing mind. Or he used to.

Right now, I'll take it, at least Rodwell wouldn't get a game, which is all I can hope for, for Fellaini.

It would be a great deal for both parties mate.

Fellaini doesn't fit, he just doesn't... there's no point in me listing reasons for and against him, if he's still here after January, he's either deluded or stupid, or Mourinho has spent the whole month getting pissed under a bridge.
