Jaysuz, don't blame me! <laugh> I reduced it to England as I thought it would suit you better (as far as I can remember Kingston-upon-Hull is in England, or did half of it fall into the River Hull or the Humber estuary?). Just happened to come across this reference.com. If it doesn't suit you and want to insult them, then go ahead, that's your business. The last paragraph of yours I find rather silly, quite honestly. No need to insult the young either; millions of them are a bloody sight smarter than you and I.

Digressing, do I have to remind you that, as Doalittle just remarked, Antarctica is a land mass, and as such most certainly is a continent, and the Arctic is an ice cap and does not qualify as a continent, as such. The way we are going the latter is going to ****ing well vanish anyway?

Does Wikipedia suit you on Antarctica?

Gotta laugh, really. Battles with QMII would turn-up on a "Fundamentals of Dish Washing" thread". This thread started-off as "Remembering the old days of form reading". Apologies, Ron, I for one should have known better. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

<cheers> Thank you, BK, I am doing that right now as supplies are back on track with Lidl, at 99-cents a bottle! <ok>

(Lidl manager must have done something to get 'that silly old sod' off his back?).

My local Sainsbury's stocks the choice of Erdinger, Franziskaner and Weihenstephaner Weissbier at £1.60 for 0,5 L bottles. How times have changed.

Unfortunately I cannot be trusted to treat myself to a quiet and measured social drink!

Your honour, it was not me that strayed away from the original subject of The Sporting Chronicle – it was Cyc and Swanny...

I was accused of being a European and, no matter how far they shift the criteria, QM Towers is still not Europe.

Can anybody point me to where the continent of Antarctica is in my old atlas?

I even looked at my father’s old school atlas (apologies for the tatty state – it is 70 years old) by George Philip, F.R.G.S. (whose son produced mine).

It seems the Arctic and the Antarctic only managed a double page of ‘Polar Regions’ in two books 30 years apart.

As it was not populated, it was not even recognised as a continent by the United Nations.

The idea that the Arctic cannot be a continent because it is not a land mass is struggling because in most definitions of the Arctic, there are well-known land masses such as Alaska, northern Canada and Russia – large parts of it are just frozen water, like Antarctica.

If you think that people that pay £600 for an iPhone are smart, I guess you are entitled to an opinion. I will only be paying anything near £600 for any sort of phone when Comrade Jezza is running the country and Marxist McDonnell has devalued sterling to the point where bread is £10 a loaf.

When I next see loads of doctors and nurses smoking outside the local hospital, it is not because they are easily-led, weak-willed addicts; it is because they are smart. Junior doctors should be paid more because all the tax they pay on nicotine products allegedly funds the NHS so it would be a virtuous circle.

Got this funny feeling that I've been ordered to stand in the corner by one Wackford Squeers, Esq.?

Was not having a dig at you or Cyc, I was just trying to answer several comments by various contributors in one post.
