Don't you believe it. I bet somebody, somewhere has got all the stats on that <laugh>

I've watched football for a long, long time and trust me when I say the ever increasing advances in technology, particularly the internet, has a lot to answer for <laugh> as the enjoyment gets sucked away to be replaced with facts, figures, numbers, intense competition and the race to make/have the most money. In the old days, the most you ever knew about another team was from the results given out on Saturday night telly.

they get paid a lot of money to do it and map the players. klopp has his buddy Peter Krawietz. they would know exactly were every player was for every second of every game... but that stuff is not given out.

and yeah some stats are out there but you can't monetise them so opta give out what people will pay for.

I agree. nobody is talking about the beauty of a move any more.

I said on this thread i enjoyed the game... the whole game cos Bournemouth stuck at it. we were pretty good in the first half if not totally awesome and passing the ball but i thought we just missed something really inspirational. the clyne ball in was a great move that origi muffed. That would have been a great goal.

I hardly ever leave on the pundits any more either cos they talk the fun out of everything. I also find they just rabbit back what i was thinking anyway.

You only have to look at what gets written on forums like this to see how having an opinion isn't enough for some people, they want it backed up with facts and sources. You can't just think a goal was offside you have to post a video or a still to prove it <laugh> ... the modern fan <ok>

some people don't realise that facts rarely matter cos if you need to prove anything that bad its not worth proving cos whoever is arguing will never agree

like talking to gerrez basically <ok>

Not really, as I'm sure you know.
Just don't tell Bisc he's right - because he'll be (even more) insufferable.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this jb <ok>
Stats would be useful to fill in the gaps in your knowledge except for the fact that they are totally unreliable, they can be manipulated to give a preconceived result or they can simply fail to take in all the relevant factors. Like relying on an equation with a missing part or assessing someone's wealth by counting the money in their wallet.
Either they're incomplete, at best - or at worst they just offer misinformation.

Yes I think so matey. I'm no stat lover but I'm not a hater either - what does that make me, I don't know <laugh>

I'm not sure if your comments are based solely on football stats or stats in general. Statistics in medicine, for example, are important as no drugs can be prescribed before scientists have shown a statistically valid rate of effectiveness. Statistics. in fact, are behind every medical study that's ever done.

Good point - I do think that's different, though there is still a potential for manipulation.
I was thinking largely of football, it being such a subjective thing makes it a lot harder to gather any meaningful information, imo. <ok>

In fairness, the whole of quantum physics is (or was until atom-smashers appeared) based upon statistics and probability. Then again, that's why some of us call it particle mumbo-jumbo. 'Us' being me and Einstein.

    true

do women like men with groomed beards and lumberjack shirts though...

I know they thing little kids in ed lumberjack shirts and braces etc look cute. (i have not idea what cute means) but do they think hipsters are idiots like the few remaining actual men in the country?

can women and men finally come together in mutual hatred of hipsters?
