Sunderland have been rocked after scans revealed Duncan Watmore has suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury. The forward will now almost certainly miss the rest of the season, a huge blow to Sunderland and manager David Moyes. Watmore has been a regular under Moyes this season and has linked up well with Victor Anichebe and Jermain Defoe in the club's recent run of three wins in four Premier League games. The England Under-21 international injured his knee in the 83rd minute of the 2-1 win over Leicester City at the Stadium of Light and left the field on a stretcher. Watmore underwent a series of scans and the results have revealed cruciate knee ligament damage. His is the latest in a long line of injuries for Sunderland this season. Watmore, who was enjoying one of his best games of the season, was carried off following a challenge by Foxes’ defender Christian Fuchs Speaking after the game, Moyes said: "The team is getting better but, unfortunately, we’ve picked up another injury with Duncan. It doesn’t look great. Read more at: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...ffers-cruciate-knee-ligament-injury-1-8275116
There was a thread done on this last night, but naturally is been lost throughout all the chaos. Gutting for the lad.
Shame for the lad he was really showing signs, best of luck to him. Massive positive, my pals been up Herron today lads doing an open training session and apparently Fabio looking sharp as ****, and ready to go. That's a bonus.
100% A certain amount of luck required to get it back to full strength. Fortunately he seems incredibly professional which should go some way to helping.
It was...still remember watching him get his injury..running into the box and the bury goaly missed the ball and took Cloughy about thigh level !!! He never got back to his best.
Goaly? Wasnt Stokoe!? Standing over him. Im probably way off here like. But sure Relic or Nos mentioned this before
Only seen it on tv I was not at the game But I can remmember the goalkeeper taking him out and he rolled in to the hay bales placed around the goal He did play once or twice but that day basically killed his career
You're keeping you average up. Game was against Bury and the goalie was Chris Harker (exNUFC) but the Stokoe bit is right as he stood over him and told him to get up. A bit like Dunc's collision on Saturday, a situation between to committed players.
Stoke was playing for Bury and allegedly told Cloughie to get up and stop being a soft ****. Harker was the Bury keeper and Cloughie returned the following season for two/three games and couldn't cope. Saw him turn out against Leeds and you could see his bad leg was much thinner than his good one, bleeding shame. Fortunatley medicine has moved on and most make a full recovery but its not an absolute given. Fingers crossed for the lads injured at the moment.
