I think £12million (Potentially £15million) will basically pay off any transfers completed since Liebherr and Cortese have been here. £12million seems alot of money considering they brought our club for £15million in exchange for a 17 year old! Great deal for Saints.
Agreed, that sounds like a fantastic deal for the club but I don't think the Don will disclose how much it is at the end of the day.
Independent also claiming its 12m up front with it rising to 15m!!! PLEASE PLEASE BE TRUE!! http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...erlain-close-to-15m-arsenal-move-2333914.html
My thoughts exactly. We have proved we are just as strong without him. Arsenal want him so much because of his potential and longevity, as opposed to current ability.
David Ornstein said its all done and dusted. Going to be announced in the next couple of hours!! Good Luck Alex!!
Let Alex go....take the money,if i am honest if Lallana was going i would be really really gutted but Alex ? talented he is but the sums of money being banded around i would take the cash...
I am more happier now that i know we're getting a good deal. £15million for a 17 year old who has only played 41 professional games! Fantastic!
Reading through this thread, i need to go back and correct the above point. Wilshere was at Luton for 2 months when he was 10 years old. Wilshere has been with us since he was 10 years old.
£15million for Chamberlain when Lallana is twice the player he is and Wolves wanted him for £2-4million! Thats a joke!
Seriously if he wants to go, there is nothing we can do about it. That's how much power players have these days. He also in my opinion isn't a massive loss, losing one of Fonte, Lallana and Lambert would be catestrophic. He was a good player yes, but against west brom, Joe Mattock looked pretty comfortable against him the majority of the time, and he's the second choice left back. I don't think he'd have as much of an influence this year against better players and may even have found himslef out of the side. No doubt he's got potential to be a class act, but will he reach that potential at Arsenal without the game time? He should have stayed for at least another 6 months to develop as a player imo but he's made his decision. On top of that, if he was to move to a prem team, I believe the best team for him to join would have been Villa where he would have got a fair amount of game time, and they have a good record of developing wingers/midfielders in the past 10 years.
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/f...e-2333914.html and other sources like PA reporter Simon Peach. £12million upfront and £3million in potential add ons.
This is ridiculous! £15m for a kid who has not yet been tested at Championship level? Scored 10 goals at L1 level? Arsenal obviously have too much money and not enough sense! I think AOC is a great prospect but not worth £15m now let alone in 3-4 years! Great business from our side if true - well done NC! Now get a CB and striker in.
And that's correcting it how exactly? If I go by your rules, if I own something for two months, and someone has it away, it's not stolen? How long to I have to own something for it to be officially stolen?
He was not stolen. He was about sign school boy forms or something for Luton and then he changed his mind and went to Arsenal.
I doubt Arsenal or Saints will announce the fee but £15million is ridiculous for you guys! I would of thought that you would spend that much on Samba! Not a 17 year old! LOL
