    Beef or lamb mince?
If lamb, try drizzling some brown sauce into it whilst it cooks... sublime mate.

Top tip for shepards pie, roast the carrots quite dark first, let them cool and then chop them up, I'd also use worchester sauce not brown sauce but I suppose they are similar.

Was going to say the same thing.
Shepherds pie is made with lamb and mashed potato to resemble a sheeps wooly coat.
Cottage pie is made with beef and the potatoes sliced into thin circles and laid over each other in a row to resemble cottage roof tiles (hence the name, cottage pie).

Shepherd's Pie should be eaten with a blend of ketchup and West Indies chilli sauce.

    And peas.

Nothing should be eaten with Ketchup......EVER!!
****ing Chav sauce, thats what we call it around here.
Only people I know who eat it are children or chavs who will only eat budget oven food and have dinners that consist of Smiley face potatoes, fish fingers and spaghetti hoops. :emoticon-0119-puke:

No, just that ketchup is for philistines.
I cook a lot. Cooking is one of my favourite things, and I really enjoy making decent food.
    None of them contain ketchup.
Seriously don't know how people live on that sort of diet, Oven chips, spaghetti hoops, fish fingers, frozen pizza and all that type of ****.......uuugh!

I also cook and couldn't agree more.

Years ago I took a client to a high end French restaurant and he asked the waiter for ketchup to add to his meal (that he hadn't yet tasted'). **** me it all kicked off. The waiter told the maitre de and he told the chef, who really ****ing lost it and took the plate back and refused to let him eat the meal !
Oh the look on my client's face as he was called all the names under the sun (in French) by the chef, who I thought was going to punch him. It still makes me laugh to think about it.
moral of story - only ****ing plebs have ketchup with proper food.

I've seen famous chef's use Ketchup as a base for sauces...

Kind of ****s your theory up mate.

Anyway let it go, too much resentment over a bottle of ketchup can't be good for you.
