It's worth contacting your local council mate as they may still have a works department. Often councils have their own in house agencies so although you are temping to start with you can end up as a permanent member of staff.
Council have plenty of driving staff from the works departments to refuse collection to internal deliveries and transport drivers for kids, the elderly and disabled.
