Bed to five Karius time. Clearly a half decent keeper as did well in German league. Has a nasty habit of palming ball out into danger zone which needs to work on. Carra said it best when said you don't expect your keeper to make world class saves, you expect him to save the straight forward ones. Every now and then player will score one that keeper has no chance on (their 3rd for example) but if keeper saves ones he's meant to (2nd and 4th) then no problem. Bit on sky app of carra analysing it and showing amount of saves and save % in his games for us this season. Doesn't make great reading. In the 9 games played he's only faced 29 shots, suggests out defence unit as a whole aren't exactly letting oppo create much. Problem is, he's made 19 saves and conceded 10 goals. And of that he had 1 shot to save v United and 0 shots against saints. 1 shot each against Hull and WBA which both resulted in goals.
Id not expect him to save either of those two. Your first point on his nasty habit of blocking and not holding has been seen in germany too. i commented on it when he first popped up as half the youtube clips had him doing it as saves. No this has been coming and i think weve all seen stuff being gotten away with. Last week i asked was he a lucky keeper.... i mean we can be saying this stuff before he drops one and then be shocked he does.
How many of those shots was he expected to save? I'm trying to think but apart from two on Sunday, I'm not sure he had a chance on the rest.
every time we draw or lose the last game gets done to death and the next one gets ignored. I just find that interesting. look forward lads.. look forward. I am dearly wanting to put one on west ham and make them more miserable.
So he 'only' let in half the shots he was supposed to save, depending on your glass half full half empty viewpoint.
theres supposed to save as in should have saved and shots that he might not be able to save. I saw hull goal which was not anything to do with him off a corner being added yesterday. IMO we need to name the goals he's let in that mingolet would have stopped rather than follow the stats IMO a flog was coming so if klopp keeps faith the guy has to react positively to it. all he can do is improve cos he can't change the past, only the future.
Just checked his save % stats from the BL - last 3 seasons - 76.2, 75.3, 73.8 - they don't look too shabby to me.
Its deceptive though because Heaton makes lots of saves, as did rob green, doesn't make them brilliant. Its totally different going from a team team where he's facing maybe 10 shots a game and saving 8 of them, to a team where he ha anything to do for 80 mins then has 2 shots to save. All about concentration etc
You're right it doesn't make him brilliant, it's just one stat in one specific area - the area we were talking about He has an okay penalty save stat as well - again doesn't make him brilliant but starts to build a picture. After all, when someone's saying a player is rubbish, where's the first place we turn to prove otherwise .... stats
Can't find a site that lists them all year by year but just based on last year on keepers who played full season as Karius did - Cech 76%, Mignolet 62.5%, Hart 66.4%, de Gea 71.1%, Fabianski 69.3%, Lloris 71.9%, Gomes 71%
2014/15 Guzan 68% Heaton 71% Courtois 71% Speroni 64% Howard 60% Mignolet 67% Hart 72% de Gea 72% Green 67% Begovic 66% Lloris 69% Adrian 73%
No no no no no. Fans pick and choose who they want to give chances too. You've made your mind up on Lovren that he's dreadful. People wanted Aspas gone ASAP, Balotelli the same and plenty others. From what i've seen from Karius is that he is no improved on Ming and we don't need another prospect who might be good if he gets a solid 200 games under his belt. we need an established keeper.
