huh ? who mentioned giving them the required notice ? I asked if anyone had been taken to the small claims court yet as they threatened to do. Perhaps you might want to answer that one ?

We have had a period now of non investment or underinvestment in the squad.

It is weaker than last season. It looks like relegation this season, so the better and younger players will leave, and we will be stuck with older less mobile players who we can't sell on.

No decent manager would come here and no ambitious or sensible player would with either.

It's an awful lot of work for someone to rebuild the club, and there's no indication that any potential buyer would know how to do it anyway.

I wasn't aware the club had threatened to do that to be honest
Are you taking about people who have just cancelled their direct debits with immediate effect? you said people cancelling their memberships so I assumed you just meant cancelling it in the normal way

I understand that but I do think something organised and publicised might work. Anyway it'll be a championship game at best in all but name

Yes, people who simply stopped their direct debit to the club for which they club threatened to take them to the small claims court. I heard the first summons were due this week. Has any one received one ? My point being if I doubt if they could issue small claims against everyone and it cannot be worth their while to sue for £80 surely ? If they are not going to chase fans through the courts and it becomes common knowledge I can see the numbers cancelling their membership turning into a deluge if this present circus continues.

Nobody will get a summons, if they're going to take any action it will simply be a county court claim and people will receive a letter asking them to pay, or give reasons why they're not paying.

    .
Look stop splitting hairs. If someone receives a letter from a county court requesting them to pay up it is a summons. You might not get hauled up before the beak but it is classed as CCJ never the less, a summons, and it appears on your credit rating as such. My point, which you swerved was if the club ARE NOT going to chase fans through the court procedures for £80 then cancelling one's membership becomes a whole lot easier and the trickle doing so now would turn into a deluge.

The terms and conditions were well publicised at the time, by the club and by fans' groups, so anyone trying to get out of paying for the notice period don't really have a leg to stand on.

If anyone has enough spare time to read through this lot it becomes apparent that is would be a time consuming business for them. Though what you said used to be true regarding CCJs. Is it still the case? I once got involved in a situation like that with BT over a direct debit they reckoned hadn't been paid but had. They were wrong and I won but in the meantime the lodging of a CCJ cost me a decent job I had been in the running for when they did a check as the job involved money.

I'm not splitting hairs, a summons is an order to appear before a judge or magistrate and I didn't want anyone on here worried that they might be getting one.

I'm swerving nothing, I've no idea if the club will take action or not, though they obviously made it clear at the start that they would.

Which is why I asked if any one had received one.

I know someone who was turned down for a mortgage and subsequently lost out on the property they wanted because of a dispute over a mobile phone contract, years previously, and forgotten about appearing on their credit rating. This is no different.

Agreed. But reading the link, which I omitted to put on and now have, whether they would go down that route if there was a large number of cancellations is another question.

And, something for people with kids still living at home who think paying bills are unimportantto consider is a lot of these judgments go down against the address mot the individual.

It's really easy now, you just fill in a form online and pay the court fee, it takes a matter of minutes.

But would they bother for a large number? It would be great to see them get a claim thrown out.

No idea, they don't seem to care about bad publicity and it's easy to do, so I wouldn't be surprised.

    Ah OK
Does ring a vague bell now you mention it, but I didn't realise that's what you were talking about earlier

Can you get HCST on board? I'm just a bloke on a messageboard with no real idea how to take this further.
