Smug hasn't posted on here for a while and now doesn't have his login details, but, because he feels so strongly about recent events, he's asked me to post this on his behalf . . . . The board has gone from a decent place to something very nasty and that's not fair on the decent lads. It has been ruined, and allowed to be ruined, by a handful of people including Mags, Wums & Trolls, but sadly, by some of our own, too. The main culprit imo is Comm who insisted on inviting his GC & Mag pals for some reciprocal arse licking . . . . yes, that went well. He targeted people, like me, and set out to deliberately & systematically derail football thread after football thread. Having driven many decent people off the board he then starts shouting at people to come on the board to start threads. Sadly, if you keep shouting, as he and Billy do, people eventually stop listening. Comm has an aversion to football & match day threads because he doesn't go and has nothing to say. Even match day 'meet up' and the 'Not 606 match' threads were invaded even though we wasn't involved. On all of these he'd take the mickey and try to put the mockers on them. I can only assume that it's jealousy because ordinary lads are going to the games, meeting up and having a pint. Having his endless bile, ranting and insults backed up by people saying 'Oh that's just typical Comm' has just encouraged him . . . . and just like the idiotic clown on the Mag board he's wanted to be at the centre of everything dictating the direction and tone of the board. It now reflects those two perfectly .... dreary, repetitive and infantile. Congratulations. Smug
Obviously I've played a part in recent events. I still kinda miss Smugs input on here. After meeting him, he's a genuine bloke. That's all I've got to say.
Think there was a process put in place to get peoples logins back. It needs stickying really or there's going to be about 4 people left the way the site kicks people off. I've got nothing to say about any of the rest of it really. I don't think the forum will last much longer now anyway. Too many posters lost and going round in circles with the same old beefs without any new blood.
He's definitely a genuine bloke, '83, and has always been one of the very best contributors on here. I miss his contributions, too, but he's been deterred because of the state that the board's in, for whatever reason . . . . as have I. This place is never going to be as it should be, because of various things that I don't expect to change, unfortunately I do usually enjoy visiting, though, 'cos it can be a really good place at times

I would react the same way that you did . . . . and I don't think that anybody else would react differently, despite what they might say
Let's you and me be civil if we can for now, we'll forget about the lies and concentrate on this little bit since it seems imperative to the future success of the board. I'm willing to have my character completely assassinated here, by anybody not just Gordon, if it helps cleanse this board. Let me tell you all what doesn't help though, phrases like "Various things", or "Certain Posters"... spit it out and let's see if we can all move on. It just seems to me people have ideas as to why the board is ****ed but don't seem to want to share. Props to Smug for sharing, never afraid to say what he thinks.
I haven't really posted much at all over recent months but think it's more to do with how awful we have been on the pitch to be honest rather than the decline on here although this has dropped too a bit but I'm just as guilty as anyone else I just don't seem interested in football at the moment, maybe 10 years of struggle has finally broke me!!!
Is it just me or is the board not in that bad shape? I mean people put threads up and they get commented on, it's not like some boards where someone starts a match day thread and there are two comments on it one of which was an update from the OP saying yay we won. It's turbulent but I don't think it's ****ed. I wish it was easier to get new members but there are still plenty of good posters on here.
Haha probably is longer I'm 38 and was part of the Reidy magic days, season ticket holder etc.... but it's been thin pickings league position wise since then, although a cup final and destroying the Mags has been funny but only glimmers in a tough set of years
A couple of months ago. About 5 threads a day were being commented on. These days it's about 10 pages a day. The place is bouncing.
It's very stagnant mate. There's still activity but it's by the same few and as time goes by they seem to be thinning out as well. Once upon a time the board could have lost 20 posters and we wouldn't have noticed. If we lost 5 now it would be like visiting a mausoleum.
A few year older than me, but we've probably been on the same journey. It's a far cry from watching Gary Owers, David Kelly and ****ing Reuben Agboola
Yeah it's a bit stagnant and it's not surprising given the difficulty of joining. I think as long as the site exists there will always be regular activity on it though. It would be great if there was a load of new posters like. Not sure how that's going to happen with the site as it is.
That's my feeling mate. I was having a trawl through a load of old threads the other day, most threads were about 7-9 posts long before they died. There's integral posters on this board, who generate a whirlwind of chat and I'd say over the years the best at this have been Nads, Comm, Smug and Cest. The board was always buzzing when more than one of them were contributing at any one time, love them, like them, hate them, whatever, nobody can argue they all whip up debate effortlessly. The problems this board deals with that seem irreversible are the issues that are personal, the board is a victim of it's own bond. It's not how it should be but it's how it's happened.
Smug is locked out. Don't have the texts to text him back. We were told to forward email addresses it would be sorted so locked out folk could return. It's been done and nothing has happened. Like everything else in this place, you're fed a load **** to try shut you up.
Defo drop off in posts and number of threads. Surprised you can't see it. We used to have two pages of active threads, now we're lucky to get a quarter of the 1st page. Match threads would hit 30 pages every game.
