What's your view here? I sit in the L7 family bit with my son who's 7 and it is rife in there despite big signs everywhere saying 'no bad language' in the family section. I'm close to having a word with a potty mouthed old bastard who has no kids with him... EVER.... near me as he just cannot stop swearing. My lad asked me what a **** was the last game.... was tempted to joke and say 'I'm one of those according to some son' but I just said I thought the bloke said 'canned' and was probably drunk. Would this be an over reaction by me to do so or should the Family section be swearing free? The club seem to be very hot on foul language up there but how is it everywhere else? for me... swearing in adult sections I have no problem with and often do from time to time but as a dad I'm always mindful of any kids being in earshot if I do and try to tone it down... time and a place and all of that....
I would make the stewards aware that the guy has no kids with him, they will keep acheck on it I have taken my son since the age of 5 and said whatever he hears at the game stays at the game especially when it comes from me no seriously we have a guy near us that does the same and I just make witty comments to him which makes others laugh at him it's difficult as it's a passionate sport but sometimes you've just got to reign it in
depends what you said, I think there are only 2 words that can get you knicked for swearing F word and the C word all the others are in the dictionary 2 hand gestures also can get you knicked 2 fingers and coffee bean advert 1 finger is not swearing believe it or not (otherwise I would of been knicked years ago
Years ago you could get nicked for giving someone a backyard look. Ah yes, good old policing back in the eighties Edit......hacky look not backyard look.....auto prompt
"Swearing at matches. What's your view here?" Have you tried using a lighter? Less likely to burn your fingers and so less likely to swear.
I think I may just do that... tell the stewards.. let them see him in action and then they can deal with it....
I must admit to swearing like a trooper in the pub at that *#*^$*^ ^#%%#%+ of a ref from Friday night
The one place I swear is at the match. Do try and moderate it when kids and women are around but sometimes can't help it. Anywhere else I don't swear, never have.
I always give myself 2 squirts of deodorant before games and leading 1 nil 90th min that's when it kicks in.
I assume he's not going to be very accommodating if you ask him to tone it down? Shop him to the stewards, or to the club giving his seat number and let them know the story about your son asking you what a **** is. I swear like a sailor and mumble a few naughty words at the match in the Gallowgate stand but there aren't any kids near me. If there were I wouldn't swear.
I must admit since I snaffled those tickets in the family section of L7, I have tried to tone it down a bit. There comes a point though when you just can't help it though. At the end of the day Kieran Richardson is a ****...
In all seriousness I struggle with this. I am pretty bad when watching or playing football. Now I sit in the corporates I do struggle with this a lot. I remember watching Alan Smith lift Lloyd Doyley up in the air after he had kicked everything that moved in the early part of the game. Smith was getting frustrated how we were pussying around and when Doyley got the ball into and turned side on, Smith saw his chance. He crunched him sending him into a somersault and landing on his neck. A firm but fair tackle that turned the game around. I was sat with a client and having kept a lid on my swell of anger, I could no longer hold back. I lept out of my seat and shout "take that you twat" I turned to find my client somewhat scared of the incredible hulk that had unveiled themselves beside him, not to mention a whole corporate section tutting and shunning me. The thing is though if you are in a section which is designated to family, you should keep a lid on it really. I've grown up used to swearing at matches, in the Gallowgate and Milburn Paddocks. So its never bothered me but its about self awareness and where you are.
