Rumours that West Ham and Palace (surprise surprise) are wanting him in Jan. The Express are quoting £15m. His stats are : Age: 22 15/16: 22 starts - 9 goals 16/17: 6 starts - 5 Goals Total: 28 starts - 14 goals 2 red cards Keep or sell?
Due to Mitrovic's lack of pace and mobility, I conclude that he hasn't got enough technical ability to be successful if we go up.
You need a big lad in your striking options and he's easily good enough to perform that role for us in this league or the one above. The problem I have is that we don't play to his strengths enough under Rafa. Rafa has a specific system and he seems to expect Mitrovic to come deep, play a passing game, and take people on, like Gayle. He's fairly average at that but if we played more to his strengths we'd get more out of him. Get him the ball in the penalty area and he'll consistently score goals.
Not sure why we have two out and out wingers if we don't play Mitrovic. To me it should be 2 wingers and Mitro up top or if no Mitro then we play Lazar and Yedlin as attacking full backs with more central midfield presence and having Ritchie and Perez behind Gayle.
Retain him. Rafa will probably keep him and use him like Crouch. I think Mitrovic will probably ask to leave which is understandable. If you asked me right now if he is as good as Carroll ability wise I'd say no. At least he stays fit though. We are well short in the striker department should we go up. We are ok for this level though.
and you'd be correct I love Mitro and he brings a passion to the team, he's still learning his trade and has his best scoring years ahead of him (probably). I can see him bagging 10 prem goals a season but not for us under Rafa, we wont play the type of system that would suit him nor should we. A decent option for relegation strugglers or as a plan B.
A goal return of every other game is decent.............. but I don't see him being in Rafa's long term plans personally. Sell him to Palace for 20 mill and lets see what his goal ratio is after he's been Pardew'd
I think he'll come good, but he's always going to be an option for Rafa, rather than the man he builds his team around. I think if Mitro can reconcile himself with that, he should stay. Wouldn't be a great shame for him to leave either though, assuming he's replaced or upgraded.
Mitros a poor mans carroll. Carroll is way faster and mobile and has more energy. What Mitro has over carroll is he's relatively injury free. I think it's better for Mitro and us if Mitro moves on. Mitro probably would be a 15- goal a season striker in Germany or Italy. Here, he's just not in the game enough to warrant a starting birth and he'll hardly ever do much from the bench because said lack of energy and explosiveness. Mitro seems to need time to grow into games. He has has 2-3 very good games for us but about 10 really bad where he did absolutely nothing for 65-80 minutes. I dont seen how either Palace or West Ham can use Mitro. They have better already in Benteke Wickham and Carroll/Sakho. If we try and sign someone in the summer, Son from Spurs is a terrific player. Doubt he'd come though. Shinji Okazaki is another player I'd love us to look into.
Are you from Asia? Mitro has a better scoring rate than most strikers at 22 years of age, the guys played 200 odd games and got 83 goals, this is bearing in mind he was scoring goals professionally since he was 17. He has consistently played over 25 games a season with a high of 37, he has the ability, but he needs to get his fitness up to scratch and keep it at a top top level. If I was Rafa I would have him working on his dribbling and mobility as he has the same rough technique as Diego Costa, 6 years ago a 22 year old Diego Costa joined athletico having played for nobody, celta, braga Valladolid and had only amassed 38 goals. under half what Mitrovic has. With decent training and a lot of hard work, Mitro has the potential to be one of the best strikers in the world. The pedigree is there, mentally he needs to keep a little bit nuts, but just work and work on his game. Chances will come for him, games will come thick and fast. Its no surprise teams wanna pay £15m whilst were are in the championship for him, they could be getting themselves a proper bargain should he come good and score 20 a year for the next 5 years
Never going to happen, he lacks pace, doesn't think like a striker, misses far too many chances and his lack of discipline will preclude him from this.
Nah, Im not from Asia, I just been watching Son for a bit and he's a gem. Doubt Spurs would ever let him go but for stupid money as he's doing all the running for Kane. I do like willing runners and workers up top though. Mitro is lazy. He doesn't have the physical attributes to be successful in the premier league, elsewhere sure. He's much like Bas Dost. I just dont see Rafa playing Mitro much, definitely not starting him in the Premier league next season. Rafa will go out and buy a striker for 20 mio. Like Diego Costa. Hmm. I've not seen Mitro do with his feet what Costa can do. Costas a prick sure, but he's top class footballer. I've stopped counting the times Mitro has failed to sort his feet out in time. Not everyone can suceed in the premier league. Look how many strikers the top teams have gone through in the last 15 years. 1/10 that arrives with massive reputation can live up to it.
