Tadic, Boufal and hopefully Redmond (I think he needs pulling aside, told to calm down and concentrate on his job rather than moan at the ref or team mates, because he clealy has some trickery). All of these have the capability of creating. Davis - people don't love him, but he can be a great link player with a 5 or 10 yard passes to set up someone around the box. Ryan and Cedric have shown they can get forward wide and deliver crosses. Pierre - despite Imps' comments tonight, I do think he gets his head up and will improve at driving forward with the ball. Even Shane causes problems by unsettling defenders. That tells me that we do have some ingredients that can create something. We just haven't quite clicked yet or put them in the right order regularly enough. That maybe down to rotation, but hey that's what comes with success and extra games. What is for sure is that we are not ****, a disgrace or a shambles. We're a good side that has a lot on its plate at the moment. I still see that as more to smile about than not.
Today's positives, this should be fairly quick....... 1) Unscathed, other than some bruised pride. 2) We've just handed Pards a four year deal.......unlucky Palace. 3) Five days till our next game......that's a winter break for us! 4) The bottom half didn't all win causing the table to implode. 5) We won't defend as bad as that again this season. Anyone else...........
I don't think we are ***, a disgrace or a shambles. Just that we are not playing to the strengths of our players nor helping ourselves. We need to take some shots from outside the box and we need to put more crosses in and support the striker. We are starting to be like the Arsenal of a few years ago )without the bite that Arsenal side had) that were criticised for trying to walk the ball into the net.
Some people are saying those things in here. If we're starting to look like that old Arsenal team, then great.. just need to add the bite I'm serious - stuf doesn't happen overnight. Ps. Only about a week ago some on here were demanding we stop shooting from outside the box!!
We all make them mate... I might have to decide whether to do Liverpool away or save my last bit of holiday in case we get through
Fair play, I couldn't bring myself to watch that again. But I was in line with him when it happened; no excuses, and I'm sure he knows that. That said, bit of a hospital pass (from Cedric was it?) given Benteke's proximity.
Think it was Fonte, like you say no excuses though... going to watch MOTD tonight... might not bother with our game though
Is always interesting to read all sides of views on how people see the games. In my considered view, I am thinking the club want to get to the next level, and to do so they need to a) progress to knock out stages in Europe and b) win a trophy (ie FA or EFL). I can see them, thinking that is more important in our growth on and off the pitch that finishing 6th in the league. That said, whilst I'm still pretty pissed off at yesterdays game, I have a feeling the team have Thurs on their minds and that affected them adversely. My main concern since the Inter home game is that we may fall short on both Eu and EFL , and am very concerned about Thurs, not as we will play poorly as I don't think we will, just times in life you don't always get what you want. I guess if they try sometimes, they might get what they need...
I don't mind where they shoot from - just put the bloody ball on target and let the keeper worrying about saving it!!
It is interesting to read different views (measured ones anyway). I haven't seen the game yet hence I have t commmeted on the game but our current status in general.
I've seen the goal. When I said I haven't seen the game, I meant the whole game. Never make a decision on highlights! Fair play to Fraser though, as he came out to face an interview.
Oh right.. nah me neither. That's all I've seen so far. Not sure I want to watch the rest of the highlights Also agree that credit where it's due for coming out. It happens.
And seeing it again (thanks a lot ) confirms my initial reaction - no excuses for Fraser, but a weak pass from Fonte allowed Benteke to close the keeper down.
