Yes, but some of those are clearly long term wums, rather than fans. Everyone here is clearly desperate for us to win.
We earned that. Need to be much more attacking-minded in first halves, because if we get a bad bounce and concede, we're through.
It depends. The club might decide to effectively just bin the league for this season, and accept say a 13th place finish - in which case, if we're putting all our eggs in the cup baskets, the might decide against signing a striker in January. Yes we absolutely need to, but we needed to in the summer as well. And we didn't then either. So I'm not hopeful that things we be any different in January, when traditionally it is harder to make good signings. But yes, until we sign a couple of quality attacking players (striker and goalscoring CM), these results will continue to happen. Bottom half sides will target home games against us to win, and put ten men behind the ball in away games against us. As we have already seen.
There was no sacrifice that's what is frustrating! I wanted Puel to play a weaker side and rest the likes of VVD, Romeu and Boufal. If resting those players cost us 3 points then so be it, I class Thursday as important enough to justify that. However, playing our strongest team and losing 3-0 is just poor. Poor team selection and even worse performance. We have no time to mull over it, we have a huge game Thursday. On to the next one!
Take out those three disastrous minutes and it was the type of close game that Southampton are often involved in this season. We just do not score enough considering the amount of possession and set-pieces we have (nine corners, 17 shots, zero goals). Errors happen and only two days to prepare may have hindered us but they word used on the BBC was 'inconsistent' and what we need is someone more mobile than Austin who will take chances and often half chances.
Agreed. As I said, I hadn't intended to to suggest any criticism. Just a rare negative thought from me that he will be gone as soon as others see what a gem he is. Yes he worked hard and he's going to be fantastic once he adapts. But the EPL standard is much higher and he can't afford to take too many touches or go down too easily. Pretty much the same learning curve Mane went through.
Every single football team that has ever existed has had bad days, even Barcelona,Real Madrid,Brazil and anyone else you can name.Get over it. I'm not happy but i can see the big picture.
It's the same problem away from home. Home form: Played: 7 Won: 3 Drawn: 3 Lost: 1 Points: 12 Away form: Played: 7 Won: 1 Drawn: 2 Lost: 4 Points: 5 Our home form is 8th in the league. Our away form is 15th
I am more than aware of the big picture but if you haven't noticed these bad days are far too common this season.
I can't actually remember the last time someone scored a well worked goal against us. Both hazard and Costa were laughable defending.
Yeah, we won't spend in January, not with a takeover looming. Might replace a departure, might get in a depth loan if need be, but we're not going to be shelling out real money.
There's only so many times a blue line can be drawn. It's the same old story. Gift teams goals and look completely toothless in attack. BUY A ****ING STRIKER!
But today wasn't "one of those days". Yes the defensive mistakes might fall into that camp, but the overall display doesn't. We are generally inept as an attacking force away from home (and that includes the EL). We badly need investment.
Before anyone goes over the top about Boufal being another Gaston or something, it's obvious the the lad has bundles of talent but looks to be struggling to adapt atm. Personally I think that he will turn out to be a class signing for us.
Need more then a striker. We need a attacking midfielder that links up play. I would even say we need 2 strikers...
I thought Boufal was pretty decent today. Lovely touches and turns and is obviously very tricky to defend against. Only thing that seems to let him down is his decision making.
