If he goes to either of those, it would be hideous, for different reasons.

Although we have plenty of options in central midfield. Morgan would still be better than all of them (Romeu the closest but still no Morgan imo). Would really help link defence with attack aswell help Romeu with defensive midfield duties.
Would love the board to make this happen as we know he fits the Southampton way. Bring in Morgan and sell Clasie next summer perhaps?

The problem being, once you start to negotiate a transfer with a club it opens up a line of communication than can be damaging.
I think they would very much like us to be ringing them right now.

Snidders was the best around midfielder we have had in recent times and would fit into our present system easily. It would take the pressure off Romeu too to have to play virtually every game and God forbid he gets a serious injury

Yeah I don't see it happening but I would love to have Morgan back here... would fit in so well in the current system.

I can't see Romeu wanting to go to a big six club, after sitting in the Chelsea reserves (aka on loan) all his English career. He'll be enjoying what he's got here at Saints I'm sure.

My thoughts exactly, but at least we have the dignity to be in a different league to them and not draining our competitors.

Under a very large pile of Euros, it appears; no wonder it took them a while.

I'm not going to suggest that Morgan moving to Everton wouldn't leave me with some negative feelings, but at least I could understand, and maybe even accept, such a move. But I could never do that over him moving to WBA. I don't know Morgan personally, naturally, but you would like to think that he would choose to return to us over a move to WBA any day of the week, given the chance. So seeing Morgan in a WBA would always leave me with that feeling of a missed opportunity, as my presumption would be that we didn't want him back - and I'm not sure I could understand that.

Anyway, at the moment it's just a story of WBA wanting Morgan. Anyone can want him...

I don't really want him back. Mick Channon aside, that seldom works. It's an admission of failure on the part of the player, and whilst in real life that sort of humility is admirable and character building, to a professional athlete supposedly at the top of his game, it's a bad move.

Plus, **** him. He chose to leave.

It's funny, but I kept quiet while reading this yesterday as I was trying to fathom out why my brain wasn't screaming "sign him, sign him." In fact my head kept saying, "£20m? I'd rather get a striker please."

Having said that, it's Morgan and we love him. Now if we could sneak him for £10m...

I know exactly where you are coming from though.

We don't buy 'names', we buy player which are thoroughly scouted and deemed by the black box and our management as suited for our team and style of play. If Morgan is on the list of those player then yes, I'd take him back. If not, then I don't really care.

I wonder if the black box retains the details of players who leave us, or whether it also says "**** him, he chose to leave"?

Also you have to take into account that even though £20m is a lot of money, it wouldn't actually cost us that much overall. Signing Schneiderlin would result in the sale of another CM, id assume Clasie, so we would recoup just under half of what we paid.

That is pure speculation of course but I see no need for having that many CM's, especially with Reed coming through.

Plus I would guess there is a sell on clause, which would give us a discount.

Would love to know if we have inserted sell ons in all our big movers over the last three years, now that would be extra good bits of business.
