According to the Daily Express, NUFC have made a bid of £10million for Roman Pavlyuchenko.

There are 3 things wrong with this 'gossip':

    1) We aren't offering £10mil to anybody, for anybody, in 10million years.
    2) Hes 29, which obviously Fleet Street havent picked up on yet, is not in the clubs transfer policy.
    3) Hes ****.

On the other hand, we ARE going to be signing Gabriel Obertan soon. Who is:

    1) Worth £3million, which is in our transfer policy
    2) 22 years old, which is in our transfer policy
    3) Hes French, which is in our transfer policy.
....You could argue hes ****, but lets give him a chance....

    Keep smiling! :D

We are a bit desperate for a striker though, Carr couldnt have scouted many more after Gameiro, Gervinho and Erdinc, and the former 2 we both offered around than 10 million for, both times it was accepted. Think there might be more to this Pav story than we realise. Would prefer Toivonen but a good signing either way.

I like Pav but wouldn't want to pay 10mil for him. I know we do need another striker but reckon we could get a better deal than this.

he's nearly 30. enough said. when will the ****ing spastics down south start rumours that are even remotely believable? if they bothered to look on any NUFC related forum they'd see that we won't even entertain rumours about players that age and certainly not for the amount quoted. i could see us taking a punt on someone a bit older on a free but we're never going to blow the last of our transfer kitty on a player the age of pav.

I'd have Pavs, he's a good player and has done well at Spurs. No way he's worth 10mill though. About 5mill I'd say, if that.

Pav is a decent striker, no way is he ****. Form can dip now and then but what do you expect when you aren't playing every week and having Crouch picked before you!!

Never would we stump up 10mil for him tho, probably wouldn't offer half that. Shame, he is better than what we've got.

We could do a lot worse. Id take him in a heartbeat if it was less money than what's being reported here. £10 mill is a bit much for A near 30 year old. I would love us to sign Sigborroson (?) from az alkmaar!

  13. He was only a cover striker for Spurs last season and he managed 10 goals, that's great for a cover striker.

I'd have him. He's a fantastic finisher, has a brilliant long shot, can score crowd pleasing goals, he also got 4 assists last season.

He can do a job. I'd sign him on a 2 year contract with the option of a 3rd, and i'd give him 55k/60k a week. He can have smiths wages once we sell him.

We don't have to just sign all younguns with a future, we should also sign players with experience and ones that can do a job for us now.

Pav has a few years left in him, and i'd agree signing him on a 5 year contract would be stupid but 2 years with an option of a 3rd is a good deal i reckon.

If im buying any striker from Spurs, id want the best one. Defoe.

  15. 3 goals last season and out of form. At least Pav showed some form last season. We need strikers that can score goals now, not ones that could possibly find form or not.

We'll end up paying for than he's worth for him.

I'd prefer Defoe as well because we have enough target men, but then Defoe supposedly rejected us so Pav will do just fine.

  17. Pav can be used as a target man, but look at it a different way. He can score and assist, that's what matters. He doesn't lack pace. Neither Ba or Pav, despite being big, lack pace or agility. Ba is actually quite nippy IMO.

I think Pav would be a great signing for us but certainly not for 10 million, wouldn't really be wanting to pay over 5 million for him with the age hes at, I think him and Demba up front could be a very good pairing though, I'd actually prefer him over Defoe.

  19. He's 29. That really isn't all that old as long as he can play and stay fit. I'd like us to stick a lower first bid in for him, but i wouldn't be complaining if we spent 10m on him. I think he could score a good amount of goals to justify his transfer fee. I'd rather pay a bit too much for Pav then having to rely on Shola and Lover for goals, and hoping that Best finds the form he did last season. It would be even more costly not to buy another good striker IMO.

Ba looks good but we need another good striker.

Agree for the most part but if we were going to spend 10 million I'd want someone younger who could do the business for longer, who knows when the next time Ashley will put his hand in his pocket for another striker might be, but if hes literally the only viable target with premier league experience I probably wouldn't lose sleep about paying 10 million for the chap.
