There was a guy - Alan Douglas - who owned Douglas Records, had a hold over Jimi's recordings. Then the Hendrix Estate ( = family) got into a copyright battle with Douglas. Won, I think, which is why Hendrix stuff is both appearing and going to appear.
Was going to put Heatwave by Martha Reeves on (without doubt one of the best intros ever) but there are only mucked about ones on YouTube, including one which is rerecorded one one with a picture of the Supremes on. There is one of them on RSG singing it (those were the days!) on Daily Motion but you can't link to it. Similar thing with the Merseybeats. Most of their early is rerecorded stuff, can't find an original of Don't Turn Around, my favourite record of the Mersey Beat era. BtW, talking of the Merseybeats, without googling, what is the link between I Think Of You and Beautiful Sunday by .Daniel Boone. Was at a music quiz years ago and someone I know actually knew that. The only person who did so it was fortunate he was on our team.
I wish we played this pre match. Why is all our pre match music lacking in decent rock music? The song played just before the players come out has ripped off Lenny Kravitz something chronic.
Was walking down George Street one afternoon and a big car slowed down alongside me. The guys in the car asked me where Majestic was, so I told 'em to just carry on, over North Bridge, etc. The Merseybeats/Merseys.
