For me the best thing Pardew did was bring Fonte & Rickie to the club... the impact of that can't even be measured. I neither like nor dislike him tbh... he done a decent job here. Yes he's a bit of a twat but as os said a lot of people are these days. Fairly indifferent to him. Though my least favourite manager under this ownership I don't think he's as bad a manager as what some make out. Did very well at Newcastle in difficult circumstances before Ashley started selling everyone.
Attracting a manager like Pardew to a league 1 club also made people take notice at the time....certainly did no harm to our chances of signing decent players (together with the ££ of course). I imagine that as a player we wouldn't look such a risk with Pardew willing to work here.
That's a good, hardly mentioned, point. It was a hell of a coup at the time to get him to join us in league 1 and like you say I'm sure helped with recruitment.
http://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/article/...league-game-against-southampton.-3446031.aspx Crystal Palace's preview of game...few interesting snippets in there (if you are bored ). Did you know Saints would be top of the League if only English goal scorers counted.
Pards gave us more good times than bad I feel - the JPT will live long even in the memory. Whilst he isn't a fabulous character I don't wish ill on him.
I don't quite get these masks. Say, for example, that a ball was headed towards your nose, all that now happens is that the carbon fibre will bash into your nose rather than the football. Or am I missing some clever bit of design?
I heard Tiss comment on how easy he makes the game look. He said that he looks like an adult playing in an under 14 match.
I suspect the mask spreads the impact out, so your face shares the impact instead of a sharp blow on the nose.
Jamie Redknapp gone for a 2-2 draw, though he says he's leaning towards a Southampton win. I have to say I can't see a large score draw....if we get 2 goals we will win.
Big fan of Dusan, but if he is still uncomfortable, I'd leave him out. Games are coming thick and fast, half a week till next opportunity.
This. Sims and Boufal showing promise now. Hopefully Redmond can get back on form from earlier this season. No point rushing him back if he's not 100%.
Needs a rest at some point and we have another huge game on Thursday... the last cup game for a month but a busy schedule coming up.
And it would be hilarious to see all the VVD "on his way to city" reports in place of a match one in the well researched press.
