A bit harsh on Ramsey I think. I do hate the ****er when he plays for Arsenal and does his rolling around on the ground after the slightest contact
bollocks, but I thought he played well in the Euros and Wales really missed him when he was suspended (through his own idiocy) for the semi against Portugal.

Some of those TOTY contenders really are laughable though.

Whenever Mauricio Pochettino speaks about Tottenham Hotspur’s future, he does so whilst sounding like he’s very much going to be a big part of it. The Argentine has in the past been linked with other jobs, at perhaps bigger clubs, but it’s clear he sees there’s a chance to build something special at Tottenham.

Whilst building a new stadium may bring financial constraints on transfers now, something Pochettino has admitted to Spanish newspaper Marca, the Tottenham manager sounds very excited about the whole thing.

“The first thing is to finish the Stadium,” said Pochettino when asked how Spurs can compete with England’s biggest clubs. “It will be the best in England and one of the best in Europe. We will grow with the stadium and help stabilise ourselves as one of the top clubs of England. It will be a source of income and we will be able to sign great players and have the best in the academy.”

Pochettino added that Tottenham aim to be “the greatest”, and whoever has sold him the story of the club’s future has clearly done a very good job.

Marca threw Pochettino a grenade of a question by asking if he’s one of the best managers on the planet right now.

“What, me? Everything is very subjective,” said Pochettino, ducking the question, before building himself up by referencing the difficulty of English football. “Where is there a more competitive and better league than the Premier League? Each country will say that his is, but when you see the club level, structure, viewers who watch the Premier around the world, you realise that this is another level.”

Marca weren’t having that and pointed out that the Premier League is missing a Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, so the Tottenham manager presented the Spanish newspaper with a future they may not like.

“Real Madrid and Barcelona already have them and nobody will take them away. Of course, with the economic power that clubs have here, the next Messi or Ronaldo will play in England. The talent will come to England in a short time, in fact it’s already coming.”

On that note, Marca and Pochettino quickly moved on to discuss the instability in Argentine football. Don’t worry Tottenham fans, Pochettino taking over the national team wasn’t presented as a solution.

An interesting article. MP defiitely sees us as his long-term project and England as the place to be.

A large number of FIFA 17 players have been critical of the game's foul system, as it does things such as give fouls against you when you haven't even made contact with the opposition player, as well as give bookings for when you're the one getting fouled.

If they think that's annoying, they should experience those same things happening in real life - which is usually what happens when we get Clattenberg, Moss or Foy.

It was also never meant to be a way to make £5m to do some ****y sub-Sensation art installation with either.

Then sell it to something like the V+A for maximum profit, and give the profits
to beneficiaries in society today that resembles the Punk ethos.

Retain the cultural legacy in that stuff. Use the money for something vaguely useful.
But the last thing we need is another "Tarquin" type shouting the odds.

Nominees for SPOTY have been announced.

They include Jamie Vardy, but no Jonny Bairstow. Mainly Olympic performers.

Andy Murray will win it, obvs.

The media love in with Vardy continues, he should be nowhere near that list - Murray will win it, I would like the Kennys to share it! Maybe if their votes were added together they might stand a chance! Hope that Bale gets the football supporters vote, a far more worthy candidate than Vardy who on that list should come last.

Gareth Southgate's time as England manager has been predictably extended.
I think that we all expected that.

Why have they given him a four year contract, though?
What's he done to earn that level of trust?

Just realised Chris Froome's not among the nominees.

    Baffling.

If they only named three candidates for the award, he should be shortlisted.

It effectively gives him the job until the end of the next Euros. So he gets two tournaments to fail at - which is about par for the course.

He has no real experience of management and has to work with whichever players are eligible for England and fit and available to play at any given time. So it's a tough task from the start.

As with previous managers, this means coping with having only a few, if any, world class players, chopping and changing team/squad selection to deal with injuries, fatigue and general unavailability (for other nefarious reasons) and having to work out formations, tactics and methods to overcome teams who are invariably superior technically or are better organised or are simply more committed to being successful at international level.

As long as the best players in the PL are recruited from abroad, club football is seen as a priority and players are expected to play 60-70 games per season and perform at their best in June/July at the end of it all, England will remain an underperforming, middle ranking team whoever is manager.

One of the reason England is not great is that we can only select English players (obviously). We are not so restricted when it comes to managers, so why are we imposing this restriction as well? There are plenty of more experienced more successful managers that are not English but for some reason they are not eligible. The past few English managers haven't exactly had great success with the team and whilst foreign managers haven't been great either, they've been better. A foreign manager that has good experience of the English game (eg Benitez) is surely a good compromise.

Because you'd probably get tens of thousands of boneheads demanding a referendum to leave The FA if they did that...

It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. I expect that the pilot will get blamed for it.
Not sure that I'd buy that, though. Maybe the fuel gauges were faulty or something told him that he had the reserve tank?
    Someone's pulling a fast one.

It is possible that there was a fuel leak. We shouldn't be too hasty to apportion blame. Wait until until the investigation is complete.
