I opted to go to this game as a saturday afternoon at Selhurst Park looked a much more attractive prospect then a freezing cold Wednesday night in Finsbury Park. I am now beginning to doubt that decision; so a good performance would be nice.
Virgil is an absolute collussus. I'm starting to have doubts about whether he's really human or not. Loved his reaction to the fans post game last night. He certainly seems to 'get' us.
I just watched the Arsenal highlights and spotted VVD applauding Maya's long pass, and that was before we had scored.
Despite the summer, I still Jose as the current Mr Southampton, but boy is Virgil doing a great job of being the beating heart.
we need to stop selling. Virgil is on a long term contract and is not for sale at any price should be the attitude
The usual pundit thought process (I use the term advisedly) is either: Saints opponents are more famous than Saints, so will obviously win (eg Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal) or Saints opponents need the points (more than Saints), so will be more 'up for it' and will obviously win Oh, and Saints have sold (or will sell) all of their best players, their managers have left, they are in turmoil, owned by someone who must want to sell the club, and any result that may counter this opinion must have been due to the opponents having an off day. Cynical? Moi?
