Marshall doing the presser with Mick this morning, that'll go down well. please log in to view this image Marshall - "We've had four points from two Premier League home games and a cup victory so hopefully that breeds confidence for us" "It can't be a bad thing of the club to have three or four goalkeepers capable of playing" "I watched the draw last night and it was fantastic. It's obviously going to be a difficult two legs but we'll look forward to it" please log in to view this image Phelan starts by stating his excitment about the cup draw. "It's a terrific draw for us. It was always going to be a tough draw but we'll be looking forward to the games" "For me personally it's something special, after spending most of my career there as a player and a coach, it's going to be special to have two days out there in January time." "Boro have been doing well recently but we've had a decent couple of weeks with our home results - hopefully we take that to Boro" Phelan doesnt really give anything away in his presser. Hernandez may be fit he might not, but he makes it clear that he won't be about to gamble on the fitness of anybody. "If Abel and Shaun are available then great but if not we'll have to reshuffle the pack. We won't take any risks" "Ryan Mason's still a bit fragile. We'll see how he is." On Mbokani - "I spoke to him, he understands the situation, but there's not a lot more we can do, he'll miss a few games now." On the keepers - "It's the same dilemma that we've had all season really, Marshall comes in does well, Eldin comes in and does well. It's swings and roundabouts."
Finally. Slacker. Marshall. FFS. Mick thinks he'll have 2 days out in Manchester? No wonder he struggles with stuff like selection, tactics... He also thinks Marshall's done well? No wonder he thinks he's got 2 days in Manchester.
If his reference to" in January time" takes in a couple of days of Feb. he is correct. After playing at OT on Jan 10th we play them there again in the PL on Feb 2nd.
Philip Buckingham @PJBuckingham Light training sessions today for Abel Hernandez and Shaun Maloney but still unclear if they'll be fit for Middlesbrough on Monday.
is Eldin better than Marshall? hmm Eldin can save penalties whereas Marshall did excellent in Chumpionship, can he step it up to PL? I trust Mike as he sees him on training pitch.
I have been watching Kuciak in the development squad and he is bloody good as well (at that level anyway). Not sure why we bought him if all we were going to do was stick him in the development squad.
Hull City's worries over Abel Hernandez leave Jarrod Bowen on standby... http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/8203...9951404-detail/story.html#mDjJrbt1wr61uR5d.99
It's really never been in doubt. The whole idea about dropping him is entirely on brought up by fans. Just like last season when McGregor was ****, every goal was his fault and he needed dropping too, according to people on here.
I wouldn't drop Marshall. Same as Phelan won't. Because he's played well. Yes he was a superfluous signing but it's done now, he's here, and until he gives the management a reason to drop him he won't be dropped. I'm sure it's frustrating for Jakupovic, but that's the life of a backup keeper, and it's not like he's not used to it. It was the same for Harper, Duke, etc. They get played in cup games and even if they play well, they don't automatically dislodge the number one. They get a game when the number one is out of form. It's always been the same. Only difference is people get more hysterical over nothing now.
Best players should be starting league games, league points are far more important than cup runs. That's why I'm baffled we are starting with billy the fish in goal. Clearly he's not the best keeper at the club on current form (except in the opinion of 2-3 people). Is Ehab actually having an influence over team selection? Quite a few people that are unconnected have made this suggestion to me. It's the only reason why I can think this ridiculous decision continues to be made.
