So why is Maguire also going on as if he's in the last six months, but Andy isn't? Clearly if we can extend all these contracts by a year we should, to take some pressure off with negotiations, but then still start sorting new deals.

I'm a broken record on this, but we're appalling when it comes to sorting contracts.

Fancy reporting what's happening at the club. Shameful. What fans really want is for the problems to be brushed under the carpet.

He might have been crap but at least he was giving it a ****ing good go.

They all were mind, just completely lacking any direction.

Don't disagree but he was slow on the ball and lost more challenges than he usually does.

Snodgrass is one of the few blameless players this year, always gives it all, may not always have the best game, he deserves to be playing at a better run team

In the history of football it's always been either "after x appearances in the final year an extra year will be added to the deal automatically", or the club that says "yes we're keeping you", or "no you're good to go". It would require an absolute ****wit of a chairman for it to ever be something the player would need to agree to at the time, or where it was completely down to the player.

Maybe they're appearance triggered options. Robertson would expect to make the required number, and Harry wouldn't so would be looking at options if he finds himself unemployed in the summer.

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if every now and again the niggling thought of his serious injury comes into his mind. Seeing some of his team mates not putting in the same degree of fighting spirit he himself does, plus being disillusioned by Phelan's tactics, subconsciously he "backs off" a little. He must be frustrated as hell.

The contracts should have a date by which the option should be declared - presumably we haven't reached that date yet
