Mate, some of us don't believe we were ever going spend in Jan anyway. Still, these gives the gullible Short supporters a ready made excuse for he's given us another inadequate window.
The faith expressed in Moyes sounds a bit hollow if this is true. Lets hope that if we are sold it is to someone who knows something about football, as it appears that Short never did, and sadly had no luck with his appointments.
Agreed and i'm not going to knock the bloke as he's pumped over £200m from his own pocket into the club. He's just been very badly advised along the way, wrong manager selections, backing the said, wrong managers, sacking the wrong managers and paying the useless twats millions in compo, etc, etc, etc. If it's true, then i'm sure this 3 page prospectus will surface pretty soon and we'll all get to know what is and isn't included, but i can't imagine Short taking on the £140m debt, surely that will be left to whoever buys the club?
The value of the squad, ground, academy , plus the TV money coming in, I can see the £170 million valuation. Anyone know how much he bought it for and did he take on the Drumaville debt ?
As a Short supporter I find that an odd thing to say as we are nowhere near the window opening. Nor am I gullible, and am certainly capable of working out of why we have gone through managers and other back room staff during ES's tenure. My money is on him approaching managers with better records and ability than the ones he eventually appointed, and the ones given the job were probably the best that were available at the time. He has supported all of them financially and yet we remain where we are. That cannot be ascribed to him yet you constantly choose to trot out the lack of funding by him as the cause, but overlook the cost of paying failure players regardless until their contract is up. Compare what he has done to Ridsdale who ruined both Leeds and Cardiff by going blindly into the transfer market.
The window opens in 32 days. Nowhere near? He's making moves to sell the club as we approach the transfer window. You do know if we go into formal negotiations over this period the club will be under a transfer embargo? and will not be able to buy and sell players until the talks either fall through or the sale of the club is fully concluded. The timing stinks. It's something you do as soon as a window closes, not as you approach a window. Unless of course the window doesn't mater and he had no intention of investing in the playing squad anyway. My opinion isn't a matter of fact, it's just an opinion but I'll stick with gullible thank you.
As it stands the sale could take years as it has just been made available for offers. In the meantime it is in ES's best interests to keep an ongoing entity. I prefer to see his business plan and DMs football plan coming together in everybody's best interest.
He will spend only money they make. Ashley, much like short, is a businessman. He wouldn't have spent 60 million if the hadn't recouped it. And they haven't got the players to recoup that sort if money without selling them all and signing an entire squad
Agree with every word. No other chairman in my 41 years on this planet has provided 10 seasons without relegation. Pretty sure in my dads 63 years.
Well given the prospectus is selling us as a Premier League club logic tells me the irons are already in fire and moves have already been made to sell in weeks or months, not years. Reality may be different, may well take years. But my point is the intention is clearly there to get rid as soon as possible. Say negotiations become formal back end of this month do you think he's going to put them off for the window from start to finish? Of course he isn't, he's going to proceed with trying to sell. The timing says it all. Shorts been thinking of himself for the last few years after ****ing up big style back when he genuinely intentions of developing safc. Now he's looking out for himself. Maybe who can blame him? I don't know, but his intentions are crystal clear to me. A lad who posts on this very forum who knows people who works with Short in business has been telling us for the last year and half he's lost interest. I think his running of the club and recent moves support that theory entirely. All that matters to Short now is himself imo.
Nor has he. 7 seasons fella. He didn't own us when we were promoted and didn't take the chairman role until 2011. Besides, today we have the squad of a promotion team and in more debt than when he took over. I don't see slowly slipping backwards as progression. His ownership could be described as a difficult turd.
Ok. 7 seasons as owner. I can remember 3 in the top flight in a row. The Quinn Phillips era. There haven't been many more than 3 or 4 top flight consecutive seasons in my lifetime. Can anyone correct me on that one? He has also ensured that it is ten years with his investments.
His investments has produced a loss. We rarely profit on players and our debt has increased year on year. We've lost money to stand still. It's to much of a business now for me to think in fairy tale statistics, one relegation could potentially lead to financial devastation. Every year we've managed to stay up has made relegation a more dangerous prospect because his investment has been so poor. You can be grateful for that. But financially we're in a precarious position and it scares me. I hope a sale does go through, our future could depend on it.
I don't think Short's been a good owner bit I wouldn't say he's been bad either. He's tried and he's invested heavily but it just isn't working out.
In the premiership era, petty much any person from overseas (with few exceptions) who buys a football club has one modus operandi and thats to cash in. If that can be achieved without investing too much, so much the better. I think Short did ok by a few managers namely MoN and Bruce but has been badly let down by some incredibly bad transfer business. Since then, its gone pear shaped....We need one of those exceptions I referred to....Like a middle east man/consortium who has more money than sense. They are much more interested in success and status than hard cash....they already have enough.
I don't really understand what Short has done to develop 'supporters' amongst our fanbase. I can understand not actively disliking him but I don't see how he can be regarded in anything more than neutral light. He has invested lots of money, but most of that seems to have been on managing debt. If he'd invested more money in things that would generate income, the most obvious being success on the pitch, he might not have needed to manage so much debt. But then I'm not a financial expert. We have seen sustained top flight football during his tenure, but he was invited in to carry on the momentum gathered under Drumaville. Under him that momentum has stalled and it appears to me that is a result of the constant and consistent poor decisions that have been made by him or those he has appointed. Several managers have made remarks about something being 'wrong' with the club but I can see no evidence that Short has attempted to address what that was. I think overall, he has found that running a football club is a lot harder than he was led to believe. I would be happy for him to stay if he had the interest and ambition to make a proper go of things but if he's going to continue half-heartedly then its best he sells up.
