After getting to 8 teams standing out of 92 in the League Cup, there was a tinge of disappointment that the run ended at Anfield, but this was eased by a real sense of pride at how Leeds performed .. no Green, Jansson, Hernandez or Wood starting, Cooper off early and O'Kane off with Leeds in the ascendancy further highlighted how well the lads performed

this was a very important match in terms of the team's development .. firstly, the visit to Anfield would have been used to further ramp up the desire to get back to the Prem, showing the squad that games like this are what it's all about .. secondly, the performance would then have shown the players that they can be competitive at a higher level, adding to their confidence .. thirdly, the legendary Leeds support stayed with the team to the end, driving home how much the fans appreciate it when they work hard and give it a go

Monk has done an outstanding job, and it is clear that he is building something excellent at Leeds .. he said from the start that he wanted a Cup run, and now we can see why .. Fleetwood was a struggle as his brand new team tried to find their feet in only their second game, tested to the limit by a confident team hell bent on causing an upset, but the lads held their nerve and fought to get through .. it was the first sign that Monk's team would have more steel than Trump Tower in them, a huge positive

Luton Town away was another potential banana skin, but the team nullified any threat and a superb strike by another Academy product in Denton, on debut, saw Leeds through .. a character building win away on a Tuesday night was just what was needed as squad players were given a chance to show what they could do

the home win against Blackburn was perfect in terms of building momentum, and the positive vibes were beginning to filter through .. back to back wins against Rovers energised the squad and the support, and the first glimmer of belief was there

Norwich arrived at Elland Road full of confidence and favourites to hammer the Whites, returning us to a dark corner, gibbering wrecks as we watched our season implode into painful disappointment, finished by the end of October once again .. instead, Monk's players twice fought back from going behind, securing a brilliant result in front of a passionate crowd .. this was the moment that galvanised the club, bringing the players and supporters together and fuelling the belief that something special was happening .. being a Leeds supporter meant something again as the feelgood factor returned

Liverpool at Anfield looked a daunting prospect, even more so as Monk once again resisted the urge to play his best possible eleven .. the early loss of Cooper made you nervous for the lads, with no recognised centre back on the bench .. instead Leeds stepped up to the challenge of a Klopp-driven team hell bent on progressing, and for large parts of the game bossed the midfield and passed the ball around beautifully .. only the lack of a goal stopped Leeds from claiming a win .. the performance was excellent, the attitude of the players magnificent, and the work rate high .. if we ever needed confirmation that Monk has put together a squad capable of challenging for the play-offs, this was it

Monk clearly trusts his players, and his players trust him .. his work ethic is there for all to see, and his squad knows that if they work hard then they will be in the frame .. the players are pulling each other along, and regardless who starts there is a real togetherness there .. those who have the honour of wearing the shirt give their all, and they know whoever comes on during the game will continue the hard work .. this was reflected at Anfield when O'Kane went off and Phillips stepped in with a real determination, fighting for everything

Leeds were not disgraced at Anfield, and although the Cup run is now over, the importance of getting this far cannot be underestimated .. it helped to build confidence, with squad players stepping up in every round and showing their desire to play for our club, ensuring that the regular starters could not get complacent .. it helped to build momentum and a winning mentality, creating consistency and driving Leeds up the table

suddenly Leeds sit fifth in the table, the team is playing good football and there is belief that we can stay in and around the play-off places .. it is also obvious that this is no fluke, that Monk has got something in place that is stable and strong .. the Cup run he wanted materialised, and now we know why .. all that's needed now is support for Monk in the transfer window to strengthen the squad, and this could well be the season we have longed for

    MOT

My only disappointment yesterday was Charlie Taylor, he played like he knew he was in the shop window, he should be playing like that week in and week out.

Yes good to see him playing so well but he needs to keep that up now, not sit back and shirk out of challenges as he waits and hopes to be snapped up in January.

I am sorry but we played Liverpools youth team, had 28% possesion and had deserved lost 2-0...
Our midfield was as ****e as usual, Dallas was Dallas. Silvestri proved all those clubs that chose not to buy him right.
Only plus point waswe didnt get hammered. If they had tried full bore it could have been a cricket score...
I think your tele must be faulty.....

you may well be right Ristac, but for me this Cup run has really helped to galvanise the squad, and if Taylor were to go in January, I am confident that Monk will have a replacement in mind who can come in and embrace the team values .. who knows, maybe Taylor sees where this is going and he decides he wants to be a part of it, because he's not going to get a move to a bigger club .. WBA, Stoke, Bournemouth et al are not going to be beneficial for him, so let's see

Ok to answer the U23 thing the teams average last last night was Liverpool 24 and Leeds 23.5 so that answers that I believe. On Taylor I think it was nt a consious effort to get in the shop window, I believe it was because Liverpool had under estimated him, whereas in the champs everyone knows how good he is. I hope I'm right anyway. Expecting a big offer to come in for him in January though but wish the kid would put pen to paper as he must surley see what Monk is trying to do and so he may just stay?

Garry Monk, Pep Clotet and James Beattie are brilliant. Monk is doing everything correct and changing everything. Did anyone else notice Klopp stood watching the whole Leeds warm up last night, he never moved he was just stood staring. That tells me Klopp wanted to see a couple of players or he was looking at something Monk does? Either way Monk is now highly respected and the best thing this club has done in years. Cellino I hope realises that and stays out of the way

Why don't you piss and support another team ffs. If you honestly only see the negative in last night then you truly are just on here to be a wum.
Your posts are boring and repetitive. You clearly take no pleasure in being a Leeds fan so why not go support the wallies where your pessimism will be appropriate.
We have all suffered the last decade as well and we know how things work so we don't need you trying to bring us down.
In what is a good time, finally, for Leeds fans and especially this board where we are finally talking about football more than anything else you seem desperate ruin it for everyone.
I'm out of here, I think I'm gonna enjoy this on my own and stay away from these boards to avoid sad little people like you.

Well I was proud of how the lads did. If we play like that against Championship sides we have a very good chance of going up. Beradi was left to mark two players in the lead up to their second goal, but I thought Viera reacted slowly and was standing watching in our peno box, thought he could have done better. But over all the supporters were brilliant and I can't really fault the players.<ok>

I seem to have caught a live one by accident.......
I put a little line out for you but a big fish ripped my whole arm off..

Seriously the cup run was nice but it was in danger of distracting from the push in the league. Even if it costs me cash to you i want us in the play offs. Not least because those people at skybet will owe me a tidy sum.
