Sharp Street: I remember those shops and the off license on the other corner. I tried to get cider in there when I was fourteen. I got thrown out.

I wish at least one person in Hull would take journalism. The HDM is atrocious!

I think you are right parents wouldn't allow kids to do what we did. Did you ever go to the tape dump near Little Switzerland?

    Billy Grange.

Not lived there for over 20 years though as I now live near middle class bohemia (Avenues area). I do not have a beard or a camper van, however.

Howdy neighbour, I'm the Avenues too :emoticon-0150-hands I bet we've seen each other loads of times.

Your description 'middle class bohemia' is spot on, although I'm as working class as it gets.<cheers>

Yes, you can go around the zoo before they open and there's an AAA Safari package available.
The wedding is about noon on the Sunday and then after the ceremony people are going to be driven around the zoo and then go back for the meal. We are going there on the Saturday morning before so we can make the most of the time there.

Used to live down there when the choices were turn left and go to Queens or turn right and go to Botanic.
A couple of restaurants and a takeaway were the only eating choices. But we were happy.

Used to get into enough bother with those limited choices and 10.30pm closing. Heaven know what would have happened if my 25 year old self had the options available now. A divorce was one likely option.

"Aye. BECAUSE we were poor. My old Dad used to say to me, "Money doesn't buy you happiness." "

" 'E was right. I was happier then and I had NOTHIN'. We used to live in this tiiiny old house, with greaaaaat big holes in the roof."

"House? You were lucky to have a HOUSE! We used to live in one room, all hundred and twenty-six of us, no furniture. Half the floor was missing; we were all huddled together in one corner for fear of FALLING!"
