I agree with what you're saying and if it pays off then it pays off. Also any time we don't play Virgil then it's a weakened team by definition as he's our best player But I for one (along with plenty of others I'm sure), will be mightily annoyed if it's the same sort of team as the last round. Just such a massive opportunity to go further than we have for a generation. Would be a shame to waste for the sake of a league game which is unlikely to have a big impact on our final league position.
I don't think this would be the reason. It will be based on what the fitness and science people think about the players current physical state and need for rest or not. Let's not forget this part when we moan at his selection later.
