The £100m Centre for Scientific Excellence being built at Reckitts... please log in to view this image
There's still going to be vast swathes of the city centre upturned when 2017 tees off with the areas scheduled for completion in March, it's unforgiveable that these works aren't going to be ready in time. Still blows my mind that the ****ing theatre is going to be shut for 3 quarters of the year ffs. HCC YOU HAD ONE JOB.

The Deep always looks impressive, but wait a while and we'll have some CLint complaining its Lagoon closed in September (for a £500,000 refurbishment) and it's not due to open again until mid-February. They'll also probably complain it was a Millennium Project that didn't open until 2002, or as it's been one of the most successful Millennium Projects they'll just ignore this fact and slink away. Much like when CoC is a huge success we'll hear not a word of praise from them. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Ferens Art Gallery has been completed on time and the contractors hand the keys back to the council today. The paving in Vicky Square is looking half decent... please log in to view this image
I was around there last week. It makes the area look much cleaner and more welcoming. Good job so far.
I think I mentioned a few pages back, the paving all looks really good when it's first laid but quickly loses it's nice, new appearance. I'm not sure if they're putting some kind of substance on top to finish or protect it or something, but it instantly looks a lot worse when it's opened.
I noticed that at the weekend, the small section down the side of Hammonds which leads to the Prospect Centre entrance has only been open a couple of weeks ago, but the bricks appear to have lost their individual colouring and don't look new anymore. They also look quite porous with small holes in, maybe deliberate, like the new ones you can put in your drive.
