Anyone see David Fergus' twitter feed last night? One of the most delusional City fans i've ever seen. "Don't believe the #AllamOut fake stories - there are few empty seats tonight. And this a League Cup tie.. #hcafc"
This. His best game for us, he was excellent, he should be starting with Clucas and Livermore in a 3-5-2 (if we had any strikers left).
Brilliant night last night, took great joy in taking the piss out of all the Geordies in W9 when we got the equaliser.
I'll leave the personal digs aside... Jaks a very good shot stopper, better than Marshall but pretty much all the other parts of his game are worse. He's not good under crosses and his distribution leaves a lot to be desired. He really reminds me of Boaz in a lot of ways. Marshall is Mr Reliable, he's taken a battering this season with us, but his performances have never dropped. He's your standard 7/10 every week. Eldin is probably the most confidence-dependant player I've seen in a long while, it's all good while he's beating his chest, but can he produce reliable displays over a 38 game season? Simple answer is no, there's big errors in him, we've seen them before and his response wasn't good. Everyone seems to be forgetting when he threw the ball in his own net and had to be taken off 'injured'. Also he had a lapse of concentration last night, a cross came in, he dropped it and was scrambling a little. Luckily, there were no Newcastle players around otherwise that could have easily cost us. Things like that get glossed over. It's the tiny errors, lapses of concentration why he isn't our first choice. There's a reason why one of Phelan's first signings was a keeper, he definitely had it as high priority.
He did make mistakes but they were a long time ago. He may have made a mistake this season but overall he's fantastic now.
I may have missed it, but I can't find the attendance for last night's game. Not in the papers and not on the Hull City web site. Anyone know what it was?
That game was almost four years ago, I think he's done more than enough to redeem himself now. The thread from immediately after that game was rather different to this one... http://www.not606.com/threads/the-jaks-last-game.189862/
Brilliant - what a keeper. Confident, assured, clearly an enormous character and well respected by his team mates and (almost) all fans. He's the player I'd want in goal ahead of the very obvious relegation battle that lies ahead. Between Marshall and Mason we have on evidence to date wasted £18m on areas that were not a priority. Jakupovic would have been fine- then we have the forgotten man Kuciak who could have been understudy. We needed defensive options and attackers.
It's funny how things change! His passion is brilliant, fans will always love him. He does certainly deserve another chance to start in the PL On a side note, it really pisses me off when you read that thread and it just shows how far we've come only for the Allams to piss it up the wall and not give us a chance! I get the feeling that we'd really piss Ehab off if Phelan kept us up!
Players do change, based on evidence alone of having seen both keepers play - there is only one choice. The fact the management keep making the wrong choice for league games is mildly baffling. But then they are also advocating playing with one striker up front. At home, regardless of the opposition is poor decision making and not for the first time this season either.
In the boxes we were told that the attendance was 16,200. A Geordie where i was put down 19,500 as the predicted attendance so any chance of grabbing a city shirt for a correct prediction was royally stuffed. Was lovely and warm in the West, I can recommend it. Only took me 40 years to get into an exec box at a city game. If it takes another 40 for second go I'll be needing oxygen to get up the spiral staircase.
I actually think Phelan has done a cracking job. I know it's not pretty, his inexperience has cost us goals, but look what he's working with. There's very little quality, the squad is so thin you can see through it and half the bench is made up of young kids. Phelan's got the lads scrapping for everything, we're set up well most games and we're still in with a cracking chance of staying in the league.
