What a shame - Pullis has to pay back £3.7M to Palar5e - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-38136496.
This was definitely a lower quality lineup than we’ve seen in recent matches in that both Canos and Josh Murphy were both omitted – could they be in contention for Saturday???? (DRAT – I’ve just woken up!!!). This was always going to be a much tougher test than previous encounters for the under 23s and so this proved. They conceded a rather fortunate goal after just 2 minutes, but from there on. Jones was fairly redundant in the first half, whilst his opposite number was forced into having to make 2 excellent saves to maintain Swansea’s lead, but Swansea were not giving our players much space and so opportunities were few and far between. I’m not convinced that it was a penalty, as Godfrey definitely got the ball first. Jaiyesimi justifiably got the MotM award and I thought that in general our defence worked well with Jones having little to do’. Grant had a good game and strangely Morris was subdued up front pretty much on his own and Sergi and Josh were definitely missed. I’m expecting a significantly changed lineup for the Checkatrade game a week tonight. Edit - I see that Dmitri Halajko and the EDP report agrees with me - “It wasn’t a penalty, it was outside the box for a start, we’ve watched it back and it was a good two or three yards outside the box and he’s clearly won the ball,” he added. “The referee has got that one wrong and that happens, it was just unfortunate we were on the wrong end of it but that happens sometimes." Surely he only has to auction off a few of his (bloody idiotic ) 'boy racer' baseball caps to raise enough to pay that back?
Haha! Just heard on the way home that Eric Bristow has been sacked as a Sky pundit, and has had a night speaking at St James Park cancelled. Brilliant!!
Jesus Christ. What a horrible story! First season in the top flight, heading to a first ever cup final. Then a mass loss of life. Horrible. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-38140981
I must admit, it's stories like this that makes me wonder how anyone can believe there is a God! Truly tragic!
This is really nice. A horrible, horrible story. So nice to see rival clubs offering to help. <3 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38150202
Report from U18's FA youth cup against Watford, Norwich won 5-1. "The visitors (Norwich) poured forward in numbers at every opportunity". See it can be done! Well done boys that's the 4th round done!
Yet Leeds kept parity and had chances of their own up until the 76th minute. Garry Monk has done for them what AN did for us two years ago. Stabilised, motivated and energised them. They're a sleeping giant, don't you know
Wonder if AN was in the stands watching, as he often is for reserve / youth games. If so, he'll have looked away during the bit(s) highlighted above!
"Despite showing great signs of promise prior to his Selhurst Park season-ender last term, Klose has been appalling of late, culpable for three goals at Brighton and looking not a penny near a £10m player. Likewise, Bennett’s and Bassong’s seasons have been ones littered with ineptitude and fragility, committing fundamental errors and lacking any form of conviction or coordination in possession. Even Ed Balls on Strictly has demonstrated better movement and awareness of his surroundings." "Under Neil, our defence can’t defend, our midfield fail to move the ball with pace and penetration, and our tactics appear stubborn and ineffective. Instead of blindly backing Neil, Moxey should demonstrate his ostensible skill as chief executive and go and pursue another young manager such as Birmingham’s Gary Rowett, Rangers’ Mark Warburton or even Scunthorpe’s Graham Alexander." Yet another excellent article and something really needs to change. It will take MUCH more than a win on Saturday to convince fans that there is improvement in our fortunes over the month of December and I feel that unless we pick up 10-12 points, we'll be heading towards another season in league 1!! I was thinking of Warburton as well, as he did pretty well when he was in charge at Brentford if I remember rightly.
