Hasn't Negan kind of done the government type setup for his own benefit?

What we've got at the moment is basically a primative feudal system. What I was referring to is an actual organised official government.

If the Walkers no longer pose a serious enough threat you'd have some members of the official government who survived along with army generals etc actually forming an organised force to re-establish law and order etc.

Btw anyone else noticed that TWD has not been set in a city or built up urban area... since the 1st season. I'm sure it must be to do with cost. But imagine how the storyline could explode if they moved to a proper city!!! If they want to re-ignite the series they really should consider this after the Negan storyline finishes.

The cityscapes in season one were haunting and shot brilliantly. I've said a few times they should look at doing more in the city again but I get why not as there will be loaded of the walkers there so they avoid it.

True, but also a lot of necessary resources. Food, medicine, clothing, guns, gasoline?

From the programme makers point of view they could do some brilliant stories, and like you said the number of walkers in confined spaces would once again feel to the viewer like a real threat.

We might see some venture into the city now they need to source twice as much supplies to satisfy Negan

Just watched judge rinders real crime stories. not sure how biased the show is but the way they have presented it on the miscarriage of justice on victor nealon is a absolute travesty. Scary how easy it is to judge lock people up.

In The Walking Dead you can see how the zombies are decaying gradually and getting weaker

They started out as basically freshly dead humans wandering around so posed a reasonably serious threat as they were mobile, heavy, strong etc due to the tissue still being only just dead

Now all they are is dried up husks. Sure a small part of the brain is what's keeping them 'alive' but they still need the body to be mobile and feed

Remember Jenner in the Disease Center showing how the dead people reanimate, it's just a very very small section of the primitive brain that makes deaa people zombies. As long as this is still functioning through the virus zombies will remain zombies, even if they are prostrate on the ground and unable to move

Where it gets really interesting, and there are theories around this online, is when you think about the time span of decay posited by the show, the zombies have gone through several stages of decomposition, you can see it in each series, and at what point that means the brain will decay, because it will at some point in all zombies

At that point zombies stop being zombies and go back to being dried up dead people

This is going to happen, so the real future threat as it is already becoming is the fully alive humans that want to be bad and act immoral and like vigilantes. What makes Negan's 'protection' so ironic for Rick and the group is that they have beaten significantly stronger and 'fresher' zombie herds all on their own and now Negan is offering protection from the weakling zombies that you can cave in and put down basically from one good blow to the head from whatever. Look at how easy it was for Rosita in the newest episode, she's like what, 6 stone wet and she put down maybe 5 or 6 on her own with no gun, some of those were quite recent turns as well because they were Negan's crew who they'd shot when they had the encounter last season

It's unclear if any of the military or government are safe or surviving somewhere as the scope of the show is so limited to the Georgia setting in the woods around Atlanta. I guess if they are going to introduce something like this scenario where authorities try to retake control it will come in several seasons as after Negan is dealt with there is another group that needs to be fought

I'm enjoying the new season of TWD, less action yes but people have complained about repetitive stories. All we've had so far is going round the communities and introducing some new ones, the story is moving on and that's a good thing.
Like RedLad says it's just a matter of time for the zombies so the story is moving on to what happens next. Forming alliances between communities is going to be essential if they are too overrun Negan and have a peaceful society.

It's a slower pace but I like it.

As a big fan of the show I'd like this season to just build up to a whole season of carnage as they fight Negan and then look to an ending.

Americans are fascinated by the post apocalyptic world andthere are tonnes of movies and shows based on it.

    I could probably name 10shows.

    That last ship one.
The alien one. fallen sky or whatever.
Dark angel. the power or something went.
    The one up in alaska.
Battlestar galactica ffs is realy this

Movie like the awful postman (the script for your walking dead)

    Theres heaps of it.

It sounds to me that the zombies were the apocalypse but not they are done and the yank are into full prepper mode.

Yanks and their preppers..... **** sake.
