I love GC, went through hell as a player and I've all the respect in the world for him but he does churn out the odd cliche or two doesn't he?

I don't agree with his statement at all. firstly he's included Gomis in a list of players we should miss, he made no account for Ayew who may well be a good player but last year bookended a very poor run of performances with a couple of good ones. Also, with Gomis and Ayew and Williams all playing last year, we were still poor and were in the relegation zone up until the last couple of games of the season.

This year we've had so much more happen to us in the takeover and all the acrimony that has generated, we've changed one poor manager for an even worse on, imo.

All that's needed for us to stay up this season imo, is for Tinkerbob to get the basics right by selecting his best team; VDH for Fernandez, Kingsley for Taylor, that's all he has to do.

By the way Southampton do something similar every season when they change their managers and sell off their prime stock and they survive so it can be done.

I take your point Stumpy but I think the point is that you can't keep gutting your team without quality replacements. Villa did it and look where they are now. Our pattern this season has been remarkably similar to theirs.

The problem is we have no choice, If these players are of a standard that a bigger club wants them, then they are off. The bigger problem for me is that we do not invest the money received for these players back in the squad, we had a great opportunity to invest in a couple of quality players, but we keep looking for cheap and where it has worked a couple of times it has fallen flat on its nose this year. We will have to see what changes in January, but I have the feeling we will try and strengthen at poundstretcher again.

I'm sure a lot of players don't have perfect games , some don't have to " Defend "whatsoever in their job description and don't score 6 goals in a limited time .
2 man of the matches and a team of the week , flung to the side because Fer is responsible for any midfield collapses is a load of whale sh!t . One of the highest % passers on the team , one of the best aerial battlers on the team and some just keep looking for ways to degrade his value to the team .
4.5 million of pure bargain and as I've said in the past , I want Fer on attack without the shackles of defense .

I saw this unfolding below us - great to see some passion on the touch line. Curt had to get in between them, and Williams was "asking" Pardew to "come outside" and finish it......

Pardew....ah yes. The man who ****ed one of his player's wives then got him transferred, later getting a gagging order on the reporting of it.

    Horrible, vile ****er.

    "Allegedly" ?

Never liked Pardew - seems he may (allegedly) have gone to the Martyn Morgan school of chivalry?

Hi Vetch - with such a game going on, I can't honestly remember 100%, but I think it was at 1-1 when we were on top and they were consistently fouling.

I think it was after their 4th goal, I watched the game on Sky match choice and you could see Pardew walk over to the Swans bench, but you never saw what went on. But he who laugh last, laughs louder. His face was a picture at the end.

    Lifes a bitch!! :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

No - the skirmish was earlier.

Pardew walked over to gloat after the 4th goal but that was all.<cheers>

Football Managers gloating. Whatever next ? Such behaviour indicates a complete lack of class.

    Laudrup never gloated.
