A63 closed west bound closed between Prior park and North Ferriby from 8pm Tuesday till 6am Wednesday. Brilliant
They took over the fox and coney when I have it, South Cave is a favourite of theirs (although they did coordinate with us before hand and spent he better part of £4000 on food and drink.).
That was probably about a years takings in the life of the fox and coney. How a village can be bestowed with two equally **** pubs both owned by enterprise inns is beyond me.
They are both crap really. The Bear has more 'potential' as it's got more land at the back. The Fox is land locked with a tiny car park and is a bit disjointed. With varying floor levels. Both a sack of ****e IMHO and they are both in the village I live in.
There's a great opportunity there for someone who knows what they're doing, it's got 13 rooms to let and a 30 covers restaurant. There's several food pubs doing well locally now and they're not brilliant.
Unfortunately they'll both continue to both be crap whilst they are both tied to enterprise inns. A village pub needs to be a free house so they can buy beer from anywhere - particularly guest ales as the micro brewery market is one of the few growth sectors for pubs. I think enterprise should sell them both, shut one permanently and have one decent one - probably the bear, potential rather than current format, presently it's a sack of ****.
Agreed, but the Fox and Coney is already untied on wines and spirits, I suspect some sort of agreement could be reached on guest ales (it's sod all good to them if it's permanently closed).
They bring tennants in on cheap attractive one year deals, the tennants invariably get it going to a decent standard within the 12 months and then enterprise whack the tenancy rates up - they then leave and it then remains empty for a sustained period. Mental. Surely better to have a pub turning over money and being occupied than continually empty. This is about the longest I can remember it being empty - must be taking its toll on the fixtures and fittings inside. You can actually have a free of tie full lease - if you commit to either 10 or 20 years killed that dead then.
