    Liverpool v Leeds Utd

    Football League Cup Quarter final

    Tuesday 29th November 2016 @ 19.45pm

    Streaming links to follow
    Good Evening / Morning Everyone,

Leeds make the 90 mile trip down the M62 on Tuesday to face the (current) second best team in the Country.

Leeds will welcome back Jansson after his one match ban, Cooper is expected to drop to the bench.

Hernandez is not expected back for another fortnight.

Bridcutt will resume full training this week, but is not expected back until mid December.

Liverpool, who have one eye on the Premiership, are expected to bench their top stars.

Should Leeds put out their strongest team?

    Back to the Breakfast Debate,

After Saturdays game, Monk (I believe) hit the nail on its head.

He said we are currently not good enough not to play at 100%.

I can appreciate what he is saying! After the second goal, we sat back and tried to just pass the ball around. Perhaps some of the players have one eye on the Liverpool game?

    What is more important?

A win against Liverpool, or 3 points against Villa? (Bear in mind Villa have only lost 3 games this season, less than Newcastle)

Gordon Taylor (the chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association) has alleged that Leeds United and Blackpool can be added to Crewe Alexandra, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Stoke City on the list of clubs connected to child abuse in football.

More than 20 ex and current professional footballers have come forward with allegations of sexual abuse.

Taylor, speaking to Radio Five Live’s Sportsweek, said up to seven clubs were connected to the allegations of child sexual abuse and said he expected the issue to widen in scale.

“From that time, of those who became apprentices and senior players, over 20 players have come forward,” said Taylor.

Asked to name the clubs that had been connected to allegations thus far, Taylor said: “We’d start at Crewe, go to Man City, Stoke, Blackpool, Newcastle, Leeds … I’m expecting there will be more. I think we have six or seven clubs.

“I can’t believe it’s just going to be in the north-west and north-east. We need to be mindful this could be throughout the country in the same way it’s been in other professions where children are there – in the church, in schools.”

Press Association Sport has contacted Leeds and Blackpool, clubs who had not previously been linked with the current raft of allegations, for comment.

Taylor suggested that some of the mental health issues his organisation has been attempting to counter in recent times could be tied to abuse but also spoke of his confidence that youth players were better protected now than in the past.

“We’ve had issues of depression and, of course, issues that caused suicides … some of what might be coming out might help explain that as well,” he said. “I wouldn’t preclude the fact it could happen [now] because you can’t have enough vigilance when *****philes are so determined.

“But we have the PFA safety net, an online platform available to parents and youngsters informing them of danger situations. There’s a lot more knowledge available about what needs to be done and checks on staff at clubs.”

Apparently Liverpool were going to play their youth team but due to recent reports they have decided to lock them away with a 24 hour guard for safe keeping <laugh>

I dont believe the players had one eye on the Liverpool game because half of them probably won't play.

Our current league position would suggest three points against Villa is more important but...

Lose or draw with Villa we could still get promoted. Win against Villa we are not guaranteed promotion.

Lose to Liverpool we are out the cup, win and we are one game away from a possible final two games away from playing in Europe, highly unlikely maybe but this time last year I wouldn't have bet on us being 5th going into December.

I'd take 3 points against Villa given the option. League is a lot more important for us

Morning fellas. We will rotate our squad here but not too the point of it being a youth side.

    I'd expect something like this...

    Mingolet
    Clyne Matip Klavan Moreno
    Henderson
    Wjinaldum Grujic
    Origi Studge Ojaria
We have a lot of options and you'll get different teams depending on who you speak to but I don't think Klopp likes to put out sides full of kids.

I'd genuinely be surprised to see us play our full strength team as well to be honest. Our beast of a centre back will probably play because he didn't play on the weekend due to suspension but it wouldn't surprise me to see maybe 6 changes from the team against Rotherham. It's what we have done in the cup up until now and I know it'll be seen as a different game to those before but I still expect a certain level of rotation.

With mignolet in goal though he can always make a horrendous error that we could take advantage of

And a very good morning from Eire, financial capital of Europe. Two games a week are a great idea and should be compulsory all year round. To hell with the players getting knackered, they're well enough paid anyway. Feels just like the good old days this week, Liverpool on a Tuesday and Villa on a Saturday. Not surprised the wallies hardly ever visit anymore, they can't even comprehend some of these clubs we face

Cheap shots at the wallies on a monday morning. That win of ours on Saturday really did feel like a defeat didn't it?

Hope we play a few kids against Liverpool to give them experience. Villa must be our priority even though a result against the scousers will be awesome I would prefer to play them twice each season, so this cup game is just a distraction from that.

I posted something over the weekend about hoping we were not involved in the kiddy fiddling stuff. Hope it was just an unsubstantiated malicious accusation from a kid who wasnt good enough. However I fear the worst. All clubs who had a big academy will have been targets for any *****s, so waiting to hear the worst. FA have been Jimmy Saville stupid and obviously have covered up stuff from media. Palios former boss of FA said hundreds of coaches were banned from football in 2001, did anyone read anything about that?

It did feel like a defeat but a measure of how far we've come under Monk. Two years ago we'd have happily celebrated beating Rotherham away without questioning the performance

But then josh you don't me.
    Just cos I don't expect em doesn't mean I don't enjoy them.

There were plenty on here were saying how we were going to muller rotherham I said it would be a very tight affair. We were worse than I thought!

Because they are not expected I probably get more joy from wins than a happy clappy... It certainly means defeats don't ruin my week any more. "Lets get to 50 points and assess where we go from there".... The wisest words Wilko ever said.
