Really? One shot on target - I think it would have been very unfair if they'd drawn and thanks to Stek (the sod!) they're lucky not to have been three down. Totally agree with you about Cedric, I thought he was brilliant and is my MotM.
As I thought. Young Josh wasn't trying to find Austin, he just mishit from a yard out. Koeman didn't know anything about Sims. That's fine, but I don't know what Jagielka's excuse is.
I thought they knocked the ball about very well, and Barkley and Gueye both should have done a lot better with their first half chances. That said, I agree that it would have been unfair had they drawn - unfair on us, that is. As I said, we deserved to win. It's sort of difficult to explain, given that it's clearly impossible for one side to win whilst the other does not lose. As weird as it sounds, I don't think it's a case of extending the statement that we deserved to win, to mean that Everton therefore deserved to lose.
Without sounding like an old nan, Southampton were a pleasure to watch. Without sounding like an old nan, fnck off back up north, koeman, you c*nt.
I haven't read the thread yet so no idea what the reaction is but I am sooooo happy we beat Everton. It was one of those games that meant so much more than the 3 points (although I am relieved we have them!). Even more amazing I actually predicted the score and scorer on the win the shirt prediction thing. Using Sims was brilliant against Koeman, bet he's wishing he had kept his mouth shut about the academy now.
Any fans want to change their mind about Koeman being a future manager of Barcelona? You may have been disappointed when he left for a bigger club, but as it's turned out, Koeman is out of his depth and joining Pochettino, both struggling with expectation. I wonder if any of you still believe Koeman will end up at Barcelona and Pochettino will end up at Real Madrid?
Slightly more serious comment. I think more than before, early goals have a massive impact on games. I'd be interested in stats about the % chance of winning when scoring eg in the first 20 minutes or something. An organised manager will know what to do to control the game for the last 89 minutes, and play on the break (thereby avoiding a 5-4 defeat), and the losing team has to find another way. Sparta and Chelsea did that to us as well. In other words it's easy to play well when you're winning 1-0. Really we had won the game in the 45th second, the rest of the day was about not doing what we did against Hull. It is really nice to have the gang back in defence. The Cedric v Martina debates seem a long way in the past now, even though the gap wasn't as big last season, there's no question who is our number 1 number 2. Oh, and he's on a long contract, like the rest of our good players.
Pierre imperious today and doing a great Morgan impression. Sims exceptional. And by heck it's nice to have Cedric back. It's taken him a while to adapt to this league (please take note those people who expect instant brilliance from Boufal etc) but he's looked a top notch RB recently.
Never did. Personally think Pochettino is far the better manager, despite a sticky start this season.
Just back. Good day. Sims - wonderful Cedric - excellent Pierre - "bang average"?? I don't think so!!! JWP - excellent Jose - very good Charlie - some good centre forward hold up play Virgil - well he was Virgil. (Perhaps needs to start wearing a cape too) Claude - got it right. Now let's not get too carried away. We were good. We were not world beaters and when we next lose or fail to win, let's remember we're not ****. Enjoy the trip home Ronald I don't think we'll see you here again.
