2 of the best strikers weve had in my era followed closely with Gabbiadini, Quinn and Bent. If you could choose one out of the 2 though who would it be? Id have loved Defoe here in his 20s but its got to be Super Kev for me.
Personally I think Defoe is a better finisher than he's ever been. Can't choose between the two cause lets face it. Kev had phenomenal service, something defoe hasn't had.
One of the most shameful moments ive experienced at the SOL was when some of our fans booed him after he chose wba over a return to us. His kids were at school at brum and he didnt want to move them.
SKP was awesome for us. But your post about Defoe's fitness regime also spoke volumes about Defoe as well. He's a class act.
This for me. We all loved Phillips but his career at the top is no match for Defoe. Defoe would have scored uncountable amounts alongside Quinn. 150 plus in the Prem doesn't lie. And never really a nailed on starter anywhere but here.
Defoe in his 20s would have sealed the deal for me. Kev is the best player ive ever seen for us though.
Great question, me and a mate discussed this last week. We decided that all round Phillips was the best player in a Sunderland shirt I've seen but if we had 30 minutes to go and I had to put either Defoe or Kev on for that needed goal then I'd go Defoe.
Really? I bet ive commented aswell lol. My short term memory is shyte. I remember being a baby though?
Absolutely mate that was it. I said the day he went 'we are in the ****'. He was irreplaceable on our budget for the Influence he had, he made everything tick. Team before had a few players that played major parts Hutch was the heartbeat of his. Rip the heart from anything and it dies, this was a slow, 2 year painful death.
Probably because when it comes to our strikers, and who's the best, in the last century, it's gotta be the toughest question ever. I know we had Cloughie, and some great, GREAT, old names before that, but who's the best between SKP and Defoe? Jesus, that's a toughest of all. SKP got his golden boot award. In an aggressive, free-playing open attacking squad. But Defoe's doing it in a perennial relegation squad. Year in, year out. How the **** do you compare one with the other? SKP is one of my heroes, pushing Charlie Hurley to the limit. But what JD's done for us, in the modern game, at the breakneck speed played today, is extraordinary. So I'm gonna say JD.
