    i said to my mate "we are in the middle of a huge recession, we got noel edmonds on tv and rioting in the streets of london. its like being back in the 80's".

    he said "yeah, whats next, liverpool to win the league?"

    oh how we both laughed!

    I like it because it takes the piss out of the joke teller at the same time. Like, duh, Noel's on TV and rioting's back yet for some reason Liverpool winning the league goes against all the evidence before the teller's very eyes that what goes around comes around. Because he's a west country bumpkin, probably.
