BBC thread on the Swans v Palace match. Post number 52 by Daiswans99 No it can't be our Dai...... or can it? 26 Nov 2016 21:07 "What a crazy game which the Swans wanted more and got what they deserved......Bob has worked wonders seeing as he inherited a team short on quality and was unable to bring in players which we can all guess that he will be bringing in some quality defenders for sure,,,,4 points from 2 games has brought the pack above very close now and it wont be long before the swans will reach safety...."
If Barrow had a knock then fair enough, take him off but don't bring Rangel on, bring Montero on. Rangel came on in the 72nd minute (I think) and with Wickham's injury we'd have at least 5 minutes added time. We were in the ascendency too. That 1 substitution changed the game basically telling our players with at least 20 minutes left "your attacking today is done, sit back and defend this lead". That's something we're not very good at. Why is it always Rangel though? Guidolin did the same thing which makes me think Curtis must have a hand in it because he may as well have just brought on a centre back. Bringing Rangel on against Arsenal ruined our chances of a draw. Nowt against Rangel, he still has something to offer and we'll need him the way Naughton is playing but if you want to see a lead out then bringing on VDH would have been the best bet.
" Given the topsy-turvy nature of Saturday's game at the Liberty Stadium where Swansea eventually beat Crystal Palace 5-4, it was no surprise that there were happy faces in the home dressing room after the game with second-half substitute Angel Rangel among thosetaking to Twitter. please log in to view this image Rangel and friends celebrate a hard-fought victory"
Great 3 points and a great 20 minute performance at the start of the second half, showed great heart and character. But, that is it, defending was laughable at times. In the first half I wondered yet again what the game plan was, as it looked like we had 11 players running around, who had never met or played football together. So a great 3 points, but all it has done is paper over some very very large cracks. On a plus sign I though young Fulton had a good game and the 3 across the middle worked tirelessly. Routledge has to be left out soon as gave nothing again and what were we doing at corners. There is a long way to go, but I suppose it is points on the board and we are not adrift anymore. we need to be in touch come January to have any chance of bringing in some quality and hopefully a leader at Centre half.
I watched MOTD last night for the first time in months, just to see if the game was as crazy as the scoreline, and the manner in which the lead changed hands so often, suggested. I was appalled and embarrassed to see the way The Swans' performed defensively. I know, a 10/12 minute clip can be misleading, but every player in the League will have been watching, and they will all be licking their lips in anticipation of playing against Swansea, if they weren't already. What has happened to this team ? If we survive, and that's a big IF, then a thorough clear out next Summer is a priority. Some members of the playing staff are simply not good enough. The problem is that TOO MANY seem to be not good enough.
