    Morning, Dave; morning, all. :)

Got to take the car in to get a new radio. The previous one was killing the car battery but the dealership couldn't work out how. So, even though it's out of warranty, they got on to the radio manufacturer and said this wasn't very good for a 65000 mile car, got a free radio, and they're putting it in gratis today, too. :)

Morning all, grey, misty and murky here at present. :emoticon-0101-sadsm The chocolate Santas, polar bears, stars, etc are starting to appear in the supermarkets in readiness for the festive season. The council men have started to install the coloured lights in the towns, but they will not be switched on for a few more days. Very often a small village will put up a few lights on the lamp posts to brighten things up now that the daylight is getting shorter. Listening to the car radio the adverts are trying to tell me that I really should consider a new mobile phone. The current one works, so don't think I will bother. :emoticon-0100-smile

    Morning, Dave; morning, all. :)

Weird to have car radio back. I only use it for listening to radio plays. I have a lovely tiny little gizmo that turns the radio into a Bluetooth receiver and I play remotely from my iPad. Listening to a very good audiobook 'Ashenden' by Somerset Maugham read by Alex Jennings. Really excellent. Apparently there was a tv adaptation with Joss Ackland in the early 1990s. I don't remember it.

I think I understood 'gizmo' out of all that... :)

I had to replace my car radio a year or so back - then some sod went and snapped my aerial off a week later. I couldn't be bothered going to the expense of getting a new one so I now just listen to CD's.

I must say it works a treat at keeping the kids out my car - listening to non-stop Sacred Spirit, Hilliard Ensemble, Pogues, Eagles, Runrig or Dire Straits is not their idea of fun...

I saw Runrig on the undercard of Genesis at Roundhay Park many years ago, they were excellent, on the line up too was Belinda Carlisle, absolute crap!

Genesis had a stage that zoomed up about 50 feet high, and Phil Collins had the crowd mesmerised and eating out of the palm of his hand!

It's one of my many regrets that I never got to see Runrig live before Donny Munro left to pursue politics - his replacement simply wasn't in the same league. Our village has an annual music festival which attracts artists from all over - when we bought our house here five years ago, I couldn't believe my luck that Donny Munro was the main attraction that year. He didn't disappoint either - had 1200 people in a tent clapping, cheering and singing for two hours. I've since seen him in concert in Portree in Skye - still brilliant and probably my all-time favourite musician.

    The gizmo:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Avantree-B...-Speakers-White/dp/B0169TWV8O/ref=pd_cp_107_0

    My headphones:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDR-ZX330BT-Bluetooth-Headphones-Connectivity/dp/B00U5WV250/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1480155531&sr=1-1&keywords=sony bluetooth headphones

The gizmo will turn your car radio into a Bluetooth car radio so you can wirelessly play whatever music is on your iPad and it comes out your car speakers.
Or you can attach it to a set of ordinary headphones/earphones and it turns them into Bluetooth headphones.
Or it turns the TV into a Bluetooth TV and i can listen to the TV via the above headphones while MrsAndy snores rests her eyes, and I can watch MotD without waking her (apart from when we score ;)).
It will turn any old kitchen radio/old stereo into a Bluetooth appliance so you send wirelessly your music remotely from your iPad to the stereo.
In short it's a Bluetooth receiver AND transmitter and I love it.

The headphones I use all the time. My favourite birthday/Xmas present in many a year. I am free to walk about the kitchen, loading unloading dishwasher, putting stuff away, no wires, listening to old radio plays from the 70s, happy as Larry.

I normally ask my Mum and Dad to make a charitable donation for my birthday (they say they really want to get something) and I'm not materialistic at all really. Very like ofh's post about if it works why gets new one? But about 18 months ago I said, Go on then, mum, I wouldn't buy it for myself but these headphones look great. They are, and she is thrilled to have bought me something I love!

Mrs Andy bought me the gizmo the next Christmas in a similar way.

Morning all, dry but a bit of a chilly wind. Yesterday was the annual charity fund raising bash that I get involved with alongside my football friends. As you know we meet monthly for a rather nice dinner somewhere, so it is good to do something for those not as lucky as us.

My car radio has an inbuilt bluetooth connection, and some days without asking starts to play music from my phone. It gives me hands free telephone usage, but still trying to work out what to do when someone calls. Last time the clocks changed it took me 20 minutes going through the large menu to find out how to put the clock back an hour. I think the instruction book is French, translated badly from Chinese. :emoticon-0101-sadsm
