Still find it weird how loads of people think Castro and Che are good people.

Che refused power for himself in order to continue the fight for the poor of South America. Even if you consider the use of violence to further political aims as wrong in all circumstances, there is still something admirable about that. The fact he died for his beliefs allowed many people to venerate him as a martyr.

As for Castro, yes he was a tyrant. But he was admired for decades throughout the third world because his tiny country stood up to the most powerful nation on earth, and continued to do so even after the collapse of their ally the Soviet Union.

I know that. I also know about all the camps set up for gay and bi people to "correct them".

His regime was terrible, hundreds of thousands were killed in concentration camps. He largely benefited while the Cuban people suffered. Dissenters were silenced and censorship is still in place. Doctors are asked to keep track of their patient's political standings.

I won't admire either of them.

You need to chill out a bit Beefy, seriously.

I have no desire to be an apologist for Castro's Cuba btw, but I seriously doubt that "hundreds of thousands died in concentration camps".

I am very chilled thanks, how would you know if I am not? You are the one that chooses to read my posts in a way it seems I am not chilled .

I would rather believe Cubans that have lived through it and said about what happened. There are many reports saying as many as 100'000 died under his regime.

I am just old enough to remember what the Batista regime which Castro overthrew was like, and I know which one I would rather live under. Batista was a dictator whose regime was propped up by the USA so that American fat cats could make use of the cheap prostitutes and abundant sunshine in Cuba. Castro and his small army with the help of Che Guevara managed to get rid of one of the worst tyrants in Central America, but paid the penalty of offending the most powerful country in the world. Cuba has basically 2 commodities to export, cigars and sugar, and they have been embargoed by the USA ever since the revolution. Castro will be a hero forever to the vast majority of Cubans. Yes, of course there were dissidents, but talk of hundreds of thousands of them murdered is a bit fanciful.

Can't agree with anything you said. Che was a lunatic and Castro a tyrant. Yes Batista was worse but that isn't saying much. I would rather live under neither tbh.

Also the vast amount of Cubans have to show respect or pretend they loved him as his brother is still in charge.

Cuba Archive President Maria Werlau says the total number of victims could be higher by a factor of 10. Project Vice President Armando Lago, a Harvard-trained economist, has spent years studying the cost of the revolution and he estimates that almost 78,000 innocents may have died trying to flee the dictatorship. Another 5,300 are known to have lost their lives fighting communism in the Escambray Mountains (mostly peasant farmers and their children) and at the Bay of Pigs. An estimated 14,000 Cubans were killed in Fidel's revolutionary adventures abroad, most notably his dispatch of 50,000 soldiers to Angola in the 1980s to help the Soviet-backed regime fight off the Unita insurgency.

Still traumatised as to what to do with the Grand Prix today -

1 - Record it whole, hope not to find out result before I get back.
2 - Watch the start, leave at about 1:15 and then above.
3 - Watch the start, abandon myself to the fact I'll likely find out and listen to it on the way on the radio (but record it anyway).
4 - Come down early and try and find somewhere showing it (least likely option).

Oh greybeards of the forum, please advise!!

    I forecast - 1. Hamilton, 2. Rosberg ......

    Nico to be world champion.

I used to enjoy F1 - used to watch with my boy, but the last couple of years it's all rather "meh" .......
