Now look, Mods, if we are going to discuss the unfortunate FLT's premature arrival problem, might we want to put a parental guidance warning on this thread? And as for his cat problem .... My prediction, just remembering what this thread is allegedly about, is a 4-1 win fro Saints. I'll just go and lie down, but not before I remind you what we did to Arsenal last year in the middle of a bad patch. I reckon there's a few players feeling they've got a point to prove, and stuffing Everton would do nicely. OK 0-0 it is on reflection!
F1 is really one of those sports where the radio just doesn't do it for me. Looking forward to the race though
http://www.espnfc.co.uk/english-pre...ronald-koeman-but-targets-win-for-southampton Some interesting points made here.
Forster Cedric fonte vvd Bertrand -----romeu---hojoylbergg tadic. Redmond Davis --------Austin lets play with 2 CDM's, a formation that has got us where we are. Romeu to guard defense, hojoylberg at dm but to pick out splitting passes. Redmond is not a striker. Tadic Davis and Redmond to create havoc and Charlie to bang em in. boufal when tadic tires, long on for Redmond or Davis. J rod unlikely to feature. Classie does not make the bench for me.
Really? I thought our attack was banging in the goals. Hes picked up on something subtle there. Reading between the lines does this mean no striker in Jan?
To be fair to him this is a reasonable response to the pressure that is obviously aimed at the strikers when goals aren't being scored. Common phrase to say you defend as a team, fair to say you attack as one as well, everyone's responsibility. Why would he be issuing coded messages to insinuate there would be no striker in Jan? He's the manger and is judged on results. I bet he want's a goal scoring striker more than we do !!!
Just trying to read into it a bit. With talk of Chinese takeovers I worry that Kat has changed the safe combination! I also want to stimulate debate. Austin and long and Redmond are goal scorers, why is it not happening?! Midfield organization is the real answer. And is it personnel, puel or potpourri?
Although I do agree a lot of the issue is coming from midfield who aren't getting forward and being creative either, I don't think you can count either Long or Redmand as prolific goal scorers. We sold 25+ goals a season in Mane & Pelle and simply haven't replaced them with any proper goal scorers
I can`t escape the fact that Austin scored a lot of goals in the PL in a poor QPR side. He should get more chances in a better team. I suspect he is fitter now than he was then, so the problem seems to be the quality of the supply.
In recent games yes. But earlier on the season, for example Arsenal and Inter away, quality of supply absolutely was not the problem. It was entirely down to the finishing - we created chances for fun. I guess it's no surprise though that in both of those games, Austin didn't start. Two months on, and I still can't get my ahead around Long not walking off at the Emirates with a hat-trick and the match ball. (And for all the comments about Jay in recent days, many of which I agree with, it shouldn't be forgotten that he at least does have two goals this season. That's two more than Long)
I`ll have to watch it when I get home - off to Hampden tomorrow to see Aberdeen beat Celtic in the LCF. COYRs!
