I think re serving previous sentences if found guilty of a subsequent offence would be the best deterent to repeat offenders. If not a deterent then at least a way of keeping those who are responsible for the largest proportion of crime off the streets.

Just a quick post about the death penalty. I'm against it, but I do believe in full life sentences for all murders.

For the record, life imprisonment actually does mean life (unlike Brexit, which means, er...).

When lifers are released it is to finish their sentences on parole, the terms of which are fairly onerous. Parolees can be returned to prison with no notice at any time should they be considered to have breached the terms of said parole.

Which completely avoids the point, well done.

You really shouldn't pontificate about supposed viable alternative options if you haven't got a ****ing clue what they are.

Then again, you swallowed the idea that there are credible options, without being told what they were, so it's hardly a surprise

When was this then Kustard? In the days of the ****ing Empire by any chance?

Do you have even the vaguest clue why the UK joined the EEC in the 1970's?

Let's hear your view on this please.

    Spot on mate.

Austerity under the Tories hasn't in any way achieved its goal, in fact quite the reverse, our National debt has grown by £600BN under these clowns. Nearly what it increased during the entire period of the last Labour Govt from '97 to '09 including the bail outs due to the World wide crash in '08. Until that point the increase in 10 years was less than a third of what it's been under 6 years of this fraud of a Govt.

Idiots like Pete will continue to swallow the ring wing media lead idea that the Tories are the better custodians of the economy and Labour simply ran up debt, the actual facts don't appear to matter it seems.

We live in an age when under this Govt the gap between the top and the bottom has become an increasing chasm. I speak as someone who is on the right side of that chasm, and it gives me no solace, it's plain wrong.

It doesn't really, you simply ramble on until you can claim to 'win', trying to claim the thread is about something else.

It seems even you realise the 'victories' are hollow, so you have to do it more and more to fill your void, creating a position someone doesn't hold, and then arguing against a claim you invented for them.

    Just for the record, this effectively started in response to one of your prophesies of doom with me asking;

"Perhaps, but it's where we are, and where we move on from. Playing with the cards we've got, what's your considered opinion on how we move forward in a world outside the EU?"

And your replies have been all about life within the EU. The key part being the benefit of being in the free market, and that hasn't been denied.

No love, my replies have been about the fiscal necessities of how we can avoid an economic disaster.

Leaving the EU and retaining single market access aren't mutually exclusive, your response above shows you think they are.

You've still offered no alternative argument for how life without that market could provide the platform for growth

Aye, it was accepted that access to the single market could be a benefit, the question was more about beyond that, but we're just right back at the beginning, and you repeating the same non-answer to the question.

The question you're now reckoning I haven't answered, is pretty much the one you've been avoiding.

Presumably you even baffle yourself with the endless spiral of nothingness which you call debate, but which to everyone else is just you finding 250 new ways to say precisely **** all?

Not really, as you can see, unlike some, I'm still quite clear on what I was discussing. I posted the key bit again if you're a tad confused. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Only I've not avoided it in the slightest, I've plainly answered it. You've just chosen to ignore the answer.

For the avoidance of doubt - It's not a 'possible' benefit, it's an absolute fiscal necessity.

You've not spelt out what the alternative supposed options that you mentioned today actually are, and I've also spelt out why you've not done so.

As you patently don't know what they are, as they didn't tell you how it might work outside of the single market did they? You chose the path of '**** it', and as a result you have no reasoned and detailed response to that simple question, aside from "the rest of the World trade" which is completely inane

Forgive me, I must have missed your non-single market reply to the initial question, which was:

"Perhaps, but it's where we are, and where we move on from. Playing with the cards we've got, what's your considered opinion on how we move forward in a world outside the EU?"

Can you post a link to it?
