Interesting thing about M'Vila right now, is that he's got just over a month left at 'Ruby' and he's displaced Alex Song for the most part in DM, Song's been benched more often than not of late. Perhaps this is a desperate attempt by RK to persuade M'Vila to sign an extension at the club, but it's a very odd move for a team to make, isolating their long term option in favour of a guy who is leaving imminently.
I don't think he's coming. I genuinely believe that N'Dong was signed as a sort of M'Vila-lite; a hard working French midfielder to placate us over the lack of Yann.
I`m not quite at that stage but heading in that direction. If it doesn`t happen the clubs response to the fans `missing out` reaction could be interesting.
There'll be a lot of clubs in for him in January, on a free, given how well he played for you last season. I read somewhere that his wages at Kazan are 3m euros per year, that's probably minimum wage in this league today.
At today's exchange rate, that's under £60k per week which I expect to be within our structure for top rated players, especially if they are coming in on a free. I thought he was rumoured to be on double that and would be way out of our league. Hope we get the lad but won't be overly surprised if we don't.
I meant getting him to sign so he doesn`t go for nowt. They were obviously willing to sell as they quoted us a price.
As far as I'm aware we (or anyone else) won't be paying Rubin a penny as he's out of contract. They should have sold him for a reasonable price in the summer or offered him a new deal to then sell him at another date.
There are no two ways about it that the player is in the driving seat unless we have a pre-contract commitment from him. Free to sign who he wants for and of course he could let us down gently by saying he would have signed for Sam etc. Or on the other hand Moyes may not fancy him. Murky world of football dealing.
If M'Vila comes to SAFC in January, then I'll (grudgingly) applaud the board for not being held to ransom by Rubin Kazan, even though it was a risky tactic. If he doesn't come, then the fact that they've failed to sign a player of his calibre, who wanted to sign for us, can be added to the long list of poor decisions that have been made over the last 5-6 years.
Ah come on man, you can be more dramatic than that. How about if he signs, you run bollock naked through town. If he doesn't you frogmarch Baines and Moyes out the board room and make them cycle naked through town on a tandem with muppet scribed on traffic cones, shoved on their heeds.
I might just do that! In reality though, if it is the case that they aren't playing hardball over the transfer fee then it will be a big disappointment
If not f@@k him, theres plenty more £60k a week midfielders. Many on here slated him for going missing November till March. Moyes may know someone from his time in Spain, a creative type, who knows, an Alex Rae or Cahill type. Do we need another defence mid fielder on big money ?J
This is how to transform a team. Two £10m players at every position that constitutes the spine of your side. Two £5m players at every other position. These fees should be payed only for players not yet at the height of their powers. Exception: Defoe - maybe. Worked great for Rafa Benitez. Just sayin' Now I'm off - it's turkey time!
