Not taking the piss out of their team or today's inept effort which I watched earlier, but their fans are more blinkered than than a blind carthorse in a coal chute..

Even David Ike has got his head screwed on the right way in comparison to some of them..

I give you this little exchange which i found on the Saints vs Leeds match thread.. cracked me up.. enjoy..

Positives to take from it from our point of view, Clayton was MotM by a country mile, Lonergan looked good and none of the goals were his fault, also O'Dea looked very good and if you'd watched the game with the goals cut out you could have easily thought we'd won 3-1. However that doesn't take away from Southamton's very good performance, they took their chances when we didn't, Snodgrass didn't look fully fit and Gradel didn't decide to perform until we were 3-0 down. Overall a game I feel we actually dominated slightly but Southampton got the rub of the green regarding refereeing decisions and managed to make the most of the big occasion. Well done Saints but I encourage my fellow Leeds fans to actually think about the game before weighing in with the mindless criticism."

Saints fan - can I re-write this truthfully for you

"One of the worst leeds 3-1 defeats I've ever seen. We were terrible in the first half and not much better in the second. All 3 goals were well taken and deserved. The referee should have sent Michael Brown of for many fouls and being an ex skate. Lonergan was crap and lucky that chaplows effort, he managed just to push onto the post. Didnt even realise Clayton was playing, also O'Dea looked very poor and put more effort into arguing decisions rather than playing.. However that doesn't take away from Southamton's very good performance, they took their chances when we didn't, Snodgrass didn't look fully fit and Gradel didn't decide to perform until we were 3-0 down. Overall a game I feel we actually were second to every challenge and offered no attacking threat. we were very lucky to get the refereeing decisions for the penalty at the end. Well done Saints but I encourage my fellow Leeds fans to actually think about the game before weighing in with the mindless criticism. i dont think we will finish bottom because peterborough are in this league"

That penalty was a joke, I can't believe a Leeds fan moaned they didn't get more.

Shouldn't you be more concerned with your own team and it's supporters? Why was there only 18K at your first home game of the season? Was there an RL game on at Craven Park, after all Kingston Upon Hull is a Rugby League City.

'The let's laugh at Leeds thread'. Your first line reads: Not taking the piss out of their team...

I agree however, that Simon21-LUFC's post is an opinion stated with his white tinted specs on. Southampton made them look like complete mugs; whether that's because Southampton's attack was glisteringly fantastic, or Leeds' defence was completely ****e (even with the coveted edition of Darren O'Dea) I don't know

It's purely marketing.. "Let's laugh at Leeds" gets attention.. we lost too, but it made me feel better that they lost as well.. yep it's a cheap crack but you've got to get your kicks and the lofty aspirations & in some cases (Simon's) blindness to reality is funny. I think we Hull City fans have our feet more on the ground generally, but we do tend to be a bunch of moaners and doom merchants. That's cos we haven't had Leeds' success over the years. With them it's like Arsenal supporters when we beat them and you get the same feeling with Leeds "How can you have the audacity to beat Leeds!"..

The point about the attendance is valid and actually something which I'm going to post on..

But if you go on attendance City get more support than Hull FC & KR combined at present. Clearly that wasn't the case in the past though. Our recent stint in the PL has booseted interest.

Ha ha ha, the fact that they think they were champions of Europe tells you all you need to know:)

All those gloating at our narrow defeat to a classy BLackpool side weren't laughing last night.

To show they're not thick and deluded, someone from York that follows Leeds tries to shift the topic to loyalty. :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

If any TWS fans comment on attendances, just mention the fact that they didnt open one stand FOR A WHOLE SEASON after relegation from the premier league due to lack of interest.

They're the biggest city in Britain with one team in a population of 750k yet they get roughly the same crowds as Norwich in a city of 150k. How does that work? If Leeds "were so big" and drew fans at the same ratio as Norwich they'd be pulling in crowds of 125,000 every home game. They are actually, in terms of head of population, one of the very worst supported teams in the UK. FACT.

oh dear did I touch a nerve?

Seriously, why was the attendance so low? In all honesty I was surprised when I saw the crowd at the KC.

I'd say the two chief reasons have already been mentioned - people are on holiday and it was on Sky. Looking at the attendance and taking into account the number of season tickets sold and the travelling fans, I imagine there were hardly any pay on the gate home fans at all.

And no you didnt touch a nerve, Ive been rolling out these facts for ages. I notice you didnt actually dispute any of them, which is a credit to you. Some Leeds fans I know try and argue said facts and make themselves look stupid.

Cheers for the response, it's a fickle old game and you'll know as well as I do success brings in the crowds.

Can't disagree with you really, only argument we have is the ridiculous gate prices but you would still think we could find another 10K + to pay these prices.

P.S I've nothing against Hull City and hoped they'd stay up a couple of seasons ago, Yorkshire's to big a place not to have a representative in the top flight. Just felt the need to comment on a Leeds United link! <ok>

Feel a bit guilty now about the thread's name! I don't "hate" Leeds, it's just healthy local rivalry. In fact when I lived in Turkey, I was there when you played that infamous tie against Galatasaray & I was backing Leeds. Yes I'm a City fan but I'll tell you, that period was different, it wasn't an English league match and Leeds is Yorkshire. As an ex-pat over there, I can tell you it was a bit scary at times, being English & those events were horrible. So I cheered you on vs Besiktas too. OK, the Leeds' fans behaviour was not good at all & they touched a nerve, that is in a completely different league to "touching a nerve" on a thread such as this. It's a tough subject to discuss, local rivalry doesn't come into account when people die.

It's all good banter, unfortunately there are some that take it too far.

To be honest I think we've got off lightly after our performance on Saturday evening, I thought it'd be a lot worse!

I don't think many football fans give much thought to Leeds as a club one way or the other.
It does seem to attract football tourist type people with low self esteem and issues of delusion that think you can 'choose' a club to support, which is generally good for a laugh.
I know a few Leeds fans from Leeds (or at least with genuine connections) and they have a similar opinion of these tourists, only they humour them for the sake of their money.

They're more to be pitied than despised as they miss so much of what being a supporter's about.
